Nice beach this year. Better of the two Moraine Park beaches. Beach was well maintained. Change house - showers were state park clean. No life guards.
So here is my rant with all PA state parks.
In Ohio, W. Va. and. Maryland almost every State Park has a nice Lodge and very nice cabins. This brings money in to help maintain the parks. In PA they eliminate life guards or close campgrounds or cut services to save money vs bringing money in. Not only are the out of state lodges booked regularly but they also have Gift Shops to bring more money in. At Geneva State Park they do winery tours from their lodge on Lake Erie.
Why can't the PA DCNR figure this out?
Think about a beautiful Lodge, event rooms, gift shop and restaurant overlooking Lake Arthur just an hour away from Pittsburgh, New Castle and Youngstown - it would always be booked.
Or how about one in Presque Isle State Park, overlooking Lake Erie sunsets and running wine tours?
I know - Stop making sense, its just another Pennsylvania...
Read moreMaybe someday I'll finally go through with my idea of taking my paintball guns to target all of the mouth breathers that just refuse to stay in the (safer) swim area that's marked off by rope. Then not only will I be helping the State enforcement officers, but I'll also be working on my targeting while helping those intellectually handicapped troglidites stay within the area that was literally made for them to be in. Anyways, during summers, I bring my family to this beautiful lake and beach area just about every other weekend. It's kept clean, there's plenty of restrooms, showers, changing and parking spots, playgrounds and land for everyone. The sandy beach is plenty big enough for all the kids to play in as they attempt to destroy any and all sandcastles made by those that werent them. There's even a food concession stand and the park allows dogs on the far sides of the...
Read moreI have some wonderful memories coming here as a kid. My mom & close family friends would come here almost every weekend to swim & enjoy each others company & too this day, it's some of my fondest memories. I visited about 2 years ago to go swimming on the north shore & the sand was a bit uncomfortable. Changing rooms & bathrooms needed cleaned & upgraded but it's you typical park style. Was here this past weekend for a picnic at one of the pavilions (5) & we had a great time. There was a park close by for the kids to play, however the age limit ranged from 5-10, so it was limited towards the younger ones but we still worked with what we had. The area is beautiful & they keep it well maintained from any debri. I'm looking forward to making the same memories here as my mom had done so for my...
