The Bridge to nowhere! This hiking tail sounds like an epic movie. What sounds better than potato chip, half dome, grand canyon, or THE BRIDGE TO NOWHERE? Yeah that's right I did it. Like a boss! This hike is about 5 miles to the bridge give or take. So 10 miles round trip. Considering my group got lost a few times in both directions I would say 6 miles each way. It took our group about 3 hours up and 2.5 hours back. We kept a fairly fast pace only stopping for an occasional band aid injury or finding a lost team member. The trail is not always obvious because you are supposed to flow the mountains to the right of the river but sometimes we found crossing the river was easier and proved an easier path. My best guidelines since it was my first time was looking ahead in the distance for a person that signals the right path possibly or I started to try to track foot steps. I felt like I was in the show the Walking Dead because I had no idea what I was doing but sometimes it's good to take the lead. My group switched around the walking order randomly. I felt cool like Lock from LOST. I just plugged 2 very awesome shows to watch again.

What to bring! No doubt! Bring hand sanitizer and a first aid kit. Wait what about water? Let's first start with the 2 items I forgot to bring. You may take a poo poo or have an accidental boo boo and I am glad someone brought it. Second important item you might forget a flashlight. I didn't bring one but I did see some people starting their hike at 3:30 pm with about a hour of sunlight left. Do the math and don't get stuck outside at night. Bring water at least a liter per person. I say bring 2 liters to be safe. It was a cold day but I finished 1.5 liters. Bring a cap, sunglasses and wear a cap. Bring a swimsuit for the swimming area under the bridge so worth going in the freezing water. Yes like and idiot I did it. The numbing water and chilly wind numbed my sore legs. I am lucky I did not get sick. Bring light healthy snacks and maybe a sandwich for lunch. I didn't like the snacks I brought so I was starving by the end of the hike. It surprising how hungry you get. Some other people brought alcohol which I don't recommend but I was a little jealous. I brought my phone to snap pictures but there is no cell phone signal so if you have a large group maybe a walkie talkie might be useful. BRING GOOD SHOES! I am not talking about high heels or Jordan bball shoes. I mean solid hiking boots or something with a lot of grip. I wore warn out tennis shoes and I was miserable most of the walk back because my feet hurt so bad.

It hurts so good! I did read that this hike was easy. What the heck? I don't know if people are bragging or not in their reviews. I did see some people run the trail but I'm not hardcore. I consider myself in fairly good shape for an average Joe. I have gained a lot of leg strength so the hike didn't bother me but my feet hurt from bad shoes and I was sore the evening and next day. I don't recommend working out a day or two before the hike. I saved my legs and I am glad. If you don't hike much this may not be a good starting point. Try a short 2 or 3 mile first then work up to this trail. Although I saw small kids and miniature purse dogs on the trail. So if they can do it you can hut pass yourself and start early in the morning.

Buy your Adventure pass for parking your car. Don't get a ticket just go to the Diner a mile before the summit of the parking area. I heard you can buy it at sport good stores but I didn't confirm.

Well I did it! Nobody is going to say to you, "Did you even lift or do leg day?" You are going to have sexy legs by the end of this trip. Hike this once a week and eat well I can see everyone losing a few pounds. Good luck. I highly recommend it. I rather choose a cold day over hot for a...

Thanks Bungee America, this is best full day adventure in So-Cal. An easy hike to see a historic bridge in the middle of nowhere and then bungee jumping of the bridge, that is so amazing. The bungee America crew and instructors are doing a great job. I have done it 2 times already in 2 years and have tried all the different kind of jumps they offer. Let me break down the full day adventure. Registration They only operate on the weekends and if there is a big group they also accommodate on weekdays. One thing I haven’t tried so far is the night bungee jumping, now that would be so awesome. Camping for the night and then jumping off the bridge in pitch dark at night. You have 2 options of registering and paying for the jumps and hike. I like registering and paying for it before you start the hike online and you get a discount too on the jumps, I got the 5 jump package last time which costed $250. You will be hiking 10 miles so better jump more than once, I highly recommend getting the 3 or 5 jump package. You can also hike with the bungee America group by paying $10 fees and pay for the jumps on the spot but I believe that’s like $100 per jump. Also if you pay before you can finish all the paperwork before itself Hike Now this is not so difficult hike for a total of 10 miles, 5 miles each way. You can either hike with the group or alone. If this is your first time I highly recommend hiking with the group or you will get lost. You can return by yourself if you finished jumping early. I have hiked this trail in fall and spring, and it gets hot so make sure you carry lots of water and food, as there is no food available on trail, though Bungee America does provide water near the bridge if you are hiking with the group. Please do carry trash bags as well, to avoid littering on the trail. Be prepared to cross atleast 5-6 small water streams, so wear shoes accordingly and if possible get an extra pair if you don’t prefer jumping barefoot. Bungee Jumping The most rewarding part about the hike is jumping of the bridge which is about 120 feet. Now they have 5 different styles of jumps and the most famous ankle jump, well first you have to atleast complete the basic jumps with courage and confidence then you are eligible for ankle dive. So they have 2 basic jumps superman front dive and backward jump, then the advanced jumps elevator drop, front and back lumberjack and the ankle dive. I highly recommend getting the 3 or 5 jump package. Do not just get 1 jump and pay for it online before so you save a lot. Bungee has excellent safety record, and they give you proper instructions before making that first jump, so get out there and start jumping and trust me you will have the time of your life. They have two bungee jumping platforms and they have categorized the jump according to your weight as they use different type of cords for different weight category.

Videography Now recently they have started to offer the video package where they capture your jump from 3 different angles, now if you are only visiting once highly recommend getting the video package, as the mobile phone doesn’t capture the jump very well. You are welcome to carry your go pro and their camera angles are very well strategically placed for...

This hike is majestic!

Before you go, be absolutely sure to check the weather and bring plenty of water.

First: When I went, the bungee company supplies water for the jumpers, not for the general public. They did mention that they are happy to help anyone in need, so if you plan on not being responsible for your own welfare, please at least bring a couple bucks to add to their tip jar. Trust me, it's a hella nice thing they are doing, and far cheaper than getting a helicopter ride home with an IV fitting. Real peeps are working hard to carry gallons of water to the bridge, tipping is the least you can do.

Second: first time I ever bungee jumped and it was amazing! The staff was supportive and friendly. I had an excellent time. Don't forget your go pro!

Onto the hike:

So the hike to the bridge is a majestic scene with desert, beautiful rock formations, a small bit of easy climbing, and lots of river crossings. Bring water shoes, hiking sticks, or your balance, otherwise I hope you got a bathing suit underneath, cuz you gon get it. 😉

If you plan on hiking past the bridge, be prepared to do a V0 bouldering puzzle. If you or anyone in your party is uncomfortable or unable to climb or grip warm rocks on sunny days, you might want to reconsider going further. For the uninitiated, this might feel challenging and at worst, life threatening. It's not difficult at all, so just be encouraging and helpful if you run across people who need it. For more seasoned hikers, this is a simple and quick crossing, just be sure to know your limits if you're hiking with kids or people with fear of heights.

My friends and I ended up backpacking a couple miles past the bridge. We had tents, carried everything with us, and took all our trash out with us. It's the respectful thing to do to preserve our national gems. We brought along a Sawyer filter so we could drink water from the river. Though the rivers were pristine and clear I wouldn't doubt you could drink without filtration, just don't be surprised if you find yourself fording the river with dysentery (that was an Oregon Trail joke, you can laugh, it's ok). For our purposes, and to be extra safe, we boiled any water we used for food.

Enjoy, you're in for a treat! And if you see people tagging up the land, please please report them. Like, come on, that's what freeway underpasses...
