A couple months ago my family and I visited the San Gabriel River (East fork and West fork) for the first time. Our expectations were high, thinking that the nature was going to be beautiful, we could take a nice hike, and find a nice spot for lunch. Unfortunately we did not find what we expected. The area had trash everywhere, graffiti on the rocks and trees, people having parties in the river, and just disrespect for the nature all around. Since then my father and I have picked up fly fishing and decided to come back and try just for a beginners experience. We ended up catching 1 rainbow trout that was well under the regulation size. With that being said, we were quite surprised and decided to come back again. These next few times we caught a good amount of fish that we released, knocked down some dams, and cleaned up some trash. Hopefully, we can get the community and visitors to respect the area a little more so that future visitors can have a good time too. To close out, my rating is a 1 star due to the amount of trash, graffiti, and disrespect but with a little bit of effort the San Gabriel River can be a nice place...
