Our stay was good. The directions and entry instructions were spot on and despite being tucked away the house was easy to find. Upon arrival everything was as described. You are sitting both directly off the road while also being tucked in to a wooded area so you do experience bugs, traffic, and trains. We didn’t use the twin beds but both of the larger beds and bathrooms were good. It’s a bit odd to find a carpeted bathroom in a full time rental property. I put some towels down to cover the carpet. Both showers worked well. There is a large garden tub but we did not put it to use. The bathrooms had enough towels and toilet paper for our weekend stay with out having to buy more toilet paper or wash towels. There were some basic shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower. The kitchen was well stocked. If you plan to cook you will have everything you need to get your meal ready. The main issue in the kitchen is the coffee maker. The K Cup side exploded coffee grounds filling the entire compartment with grounds. Luckily there were filters on hand so I was able to try the pot side of the coffee maker. Unfortunately it seems like it is a replacement carafe that isn’t the right height to trigger the opening the basket so I had to hold the put up about 1/4” in order to get the coffee to transfer from the basket to the carafe. Not a huge issue for a short trip with only one coffee drinker but for a longer trip or more people wanting coffee this could be a big headache. The back yard so quiet and secluded. It backs right up to the woods so bring some bug spray. It looks like sometimes people will have a small fire and we saw local wood for sale. The walk to the beach took us about 13 minutes total. About 8 minutes to get to the stairs and then 5 minutes to get down the stairs and out to the water. It is almost 100% shade all the way to the sand. There are 130 stairs down to the beach. They are well constructed but the last 25 are pretty steep. There are benches so about every 15-30 steps you can sit for a break if needed. We made it down with no breaks but one person from our party has a bad knee and we did have to stop a few times on the way back up. Even with the breaks it only took us 15 minutes to get back up to the street so we had a faster person go ahead and bring the car right to the stairs to pick us up with our stuff. The beach was quiet compared to the public beaches. No life guards are on duty so you are swimming at your own risk. There were boats and jet skis coming and going but they kept their distance from the swimmers. We have visited multiple locations in the Lake Michigan area and this beach was very clean and sandy, the sand is powder smooth-not rocky. You could probably walk to the local coffee shop (The Whistle Stop) or one other place if you felt comfortable walking along the state road, or if you detoured down through the neighborhoods. There were plenty of house pictures in the listing. Here are a few pics of the beach stairs and the beach.

Just had a great stay with Freshwater Vacations at their lake house in Rose City. Family and friends of mine utilized the location for a spring hunting trip and it was perfect for our needs. Freshwater was very quick to respond when I had questions, and they were very helpful. They even helped accommodate me a bit for a special last minute request that was very appreciated. Centrally located around the Huron National Forest, you have easy access to a lot of public land and both the towns of Mio and Rose city. We had no luck fishing this time around in the lake at the house but the neighbors assured me there are some big bass, panfish in there if that's your interest. We also had luck fishing in the local ponds and lakes in the area. The house layout is large enough to accommodate quite a few people without feeling like you're all on top of each other. The house also had every thing we could of needed for the trip (kitchen needs, bathroom needs, etc) and all appliances worked as expected. Wifi and roku setup worked well for digital entertainment if needed. Having three bedrooms was a nice perk, the beds are comfortable enough for our needs but some may find them to be a bit uncomfortable if you're used to your own high end mattress. This is as expected though while traveling. Overall the house is in great shape, but as always there is some wear and tear from being used over the years. Nothing to a point of being an issue for the trip. You do have two neighbors fairly close to your left and right, but they were both kind and left us to our own activities after a quick chat or two. Would recommend and would come back.

The West Hagerman Lake House to the rescue! Our family, from all over the country, has been planning a trip to the U.P. for the past year. Two weeks prior to our stay the property we had booked realized they had us double booked. We were left without a place to stay. To our benefit, the West Hagerman Lake House was available. The house was more than we could have ever expected. Our 4 kids were thrilled with all the water toys available. Even the adults enjoyed the stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, and the canoe. We didn't even need to worry about life jackets, as there were plenty of lifejackets for all sizes. The front yard was huge, and our kids had a blast playing wiffle ball. There were also tons of yard games available (cornhole, spikeball, wiffleball, etc.). We spent many nights by the bonfire, making s'mores and memories! There was no need go into town for firewood, as there was enough firewood to last a lifetime. Now for the inside; it was huge! There was plenty of space, even enough for my 18 year old nephew to get away from his 7 year old cousins hahaha. The kitchen was setup perfectly, with a huge table to fit our entire family of 12. It is equipped with 2 sinks and 2 trash bins as well as stocked with spices, utensils, pans, crockpots, griddles, etc. The views from the house were absolutely gorgeous and we loved spending time swimming and fishing off of the dock. We cannot wait to come back. This house was amazing!

This place is a hidden gem, I don't want to tell the public how great of a location this was for fear of it being constantly booked out...but because of how great the staff is I can't help it!

During the whole booking process Freshwater Vacation staff was helpful and friendly I'm accomodating us and answering questions! While staying at the rental their were straight forward rules listed in a friendly manner. Checking out instructions were concise and reasonable! I'd book here again for those reasons alone, but there's more!

This old dance hall converted into a vacation rental is located right on rapid River. Deep enough to be fun for the older children (including the falls) but shallow enough for the younger children to enjoy too, with supervision! If you come make sure you bring a net, (or ten) and a bucket, because despite the swift current there are crawdads galore! The park whose property adjoins the lodge's gives kids the opportunity to have a swingset and slide available too! Not to mention the extra space to roam. If you're interested in spring water wellheads you'll find one of those in the park too!

A wide back deck furnished with comfortable deck seating is perfect for watching the kids play in the river during the day and enjoying the cool evenings. The campfire, double oven, roaster, and grill provide a plethora of cooking options for a large crowd. A sauna on the back porch provides more relaxation options for those who'd like it.

Information not mentioned in the listing is how kid friendly these owners are. There was lots of stuff for kids to do, drawing paper, games, blocks, and a little ride-on push car perfect for a toddler on the deck as well as some yard games.

The inside of the lodge is well set up with adequate dining space, spacious inside, and seating for many in the living room area. The bedrooms are well thought out for maximum occupancy without having a bunk room so big that nobody in it actually sleeps because of the amount of people sleeping in it.

On top of all this it's the perfect place to rent if you plan on going to day trips to different UP locations. We visited Picture Rocks, Kitch-iti-kipi, Fayette State Park, and Presque Isle and never had to drive more than an hour when starting from the lodge.

If you're looking for a get away spot in the UP to bring a few friends and family, look no further,...

Wow what a great little place this could be. I imagine the owner has not stayed here in cabin 8 for awhile. The stench of the room was overpowering until we could open windows and run fans; appreciate that fans, although filthy and loud were available for us to use. Thank you. However the old, dirty rugs and dresser that smells and appears was retrieved from a dumpster or goodwill (which is acceptable if they were taken care of and cleaned)are probably to blame for what can only be described if one experiences this smell first hand. (Body odor mixed with 50 plus years of neglectful cleaning) In my opinion of course. The space appears cluttered, outdated and neglected. Let me be clear-The age of the structure has made no difference in my perception of this property and could actually be quite quaint. If the space were cleaned and refinished inside with quality products, remove the rugs and refinish the dresser would make a big difference. All in my opinion...of course. The linens were stained; response to this issue was addressed and an offer to fix was made. However 930pm was not the time for someone to bring clean linens when it should have been inspected before myself or any other guest arrived. I distrust the quality and effort made immediately upon discovery of this issue; despite trying to make something right after arrival. This was a good lesson in you get what you pay for. Cara before a reply is made of how unfortunate my recent stay was or state that my review is harsh or you are disturbed by my review; I encourage you to stay there for 2 days and take a look around. Smell it for yourself. We are campers and actually are pretty laid back but it felt and looked and smelled like zero effort was made overall to make it decent inside. I luckily brought my own linens to cover the bed with. The location to beaches and everything summertime in the UP was perfect for us. Dreaded the room. Will not return or seek any properties from this company. August 1-3 Eagle Harbor Michigan Harbor pines cabin 8. You should be able to find my identifying information with my reservation information. One should be aware of...
