Very disappointing Wine Tasting Experience at Opus One! My recent visit to Opus One was unfortunately the worst wine tasting experience I’ve had in Napa Valley. From the moment we arrived, the concierge set the wrong tone with a level of rudeness and disrespect that was truly surprising—definitely not what one would expect from a winery of this reputation. The tasting itself was poorly managed, with a single host - Brandon, stretched thin trying to serve five tables at once. As a result, our experience felt rushed and impersonal. We received almost no information about the winery or the wines themselves, simply because the host did not have sufficient time for any table. Frankly, the team at Opus One could benefit greatly from training at places like Far Niente or Cade, where guest service is a priority and every visitor feels valued. Even the best wine is hard to enjoy in such an atmosphere. The presence of numerous loud Chinese YouTubers filming themselves throughout the space only added to the chaotic and commercialized feeling. On a positive note, the winery’s architecture and interiors are modern and visually impressive. However, the overall experience, especially the quality of service, left a lot to be desired. I cannot recommend Opus One for wine tasting, especially given how many other Napa Valley wineries offer truly memorable and welcoming guest...
Read moreVERY UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE. My expectations for this winery was MORE THAN DISAPPOINTING. When agreeing to pay $160+ for a glass of wine, we would expect that comes with the unique experience that the winery offers but my experience was more like “ROBBED”. There was NO staff explaining about the wine or services. The view was awful with all the construction around. I was told that there would be a tour but most of entrances were blocked with the signs “only for the reserved” and there was no attending staff to show us around. Two glasses of wine ( barely 5 oz) with some crackers costing $140… it’s a DISHONEST BUSINESS. If I were told there were no experience but left alone with the little bit of THE EXPENSIVE DROPS of red, I would never tried this place. They make you pay FIRST AND BRING THE POOREST SERVICE WIRH THE WINE I HAD NO IDEA WHY THEY ARE SO EXPENSIVE BECAUSE NO DESCRIPTION ABOUT THEIR PRODUCTS. Almost FRAUD. I enjoy NAPA but this place ruined my love for the entire wine community. I want to warn the visitors as much as possible so people can have the service they pay for at other...
Read moreOur visit to Opus One was truly unforgettable — and that’s all thanks to Brendon. From start to finish, he struck the perfect balance of being informative, welcoming, and incredibly thoughtful. He guided us through the facility with genuine passion, explaining each wine with care and depth, while also giving us the space to enjoy the moment and chat amongst ourselves.
What really stood out was Brendon’s kindness — always offering to take photos without us ever needing to ask, and making sure we felt completely at ease throughout the experience. At no point did we feel pressured to purchase, but the wine was so exceptional that we couldn’t leave without grabbing a glass.
If you have the opportunity to visit Opus One, do yourself a favor and ask for Brendon. His warm hospitality and effortless professionalism are what made our experience so...
