My husband and I took our children to Waylon’s water world today and purchased season passes. My best friend and I are both breastfeeding mothers and we had both of our infants with us. My best friend and I were in the wading pool area which is predominantly a small children play area and my best friend was discreetly nursing her baby. I had previously nursed my infant twice during this visit. She was so discrete with nursing I didn’t even realize she was feeding the baby because she was using her hand to shield the child’s face. A male life guard approached us and told my best friend she needed to USE A TOWEL in the POOL or GO TO THE RESTROOM (uhhh ew?) to nurse her baby. She was so stunned and said “uhhhh you cannot say that to me” and I said “no you cannot tell her that- it is like a lawfully protected thing you cannot tell a mother to cover her child while breastfeeding” and he said “well it’s not because of you just…. It’s because there’s some weirdos that might complain or look at you so next time just go to a closed space or cover with a towel” and he paused in an attempt to prompt her to move and she said “she’s going to be done in like 30 seconds” and then he said again “okay so if you need to breastfeed again you can do it in a more private space” and she said “we are leaving in the next 15 minutes”.
What shocked me is he persisted in telling her to cover up after we informed him he cannot legally tell her to breastfeed somewhere else.
We went and told the manager immediately and as soon as we asked for a manager the staff upstairs asked what it was about and there were three of them that started loudly discussing how they had the same problem yesterday. And they said it had already been addressed but here we are, 24 hours later with the same issue. The manager was very apologetic and told us he would address it again but it left a sour taste in our mouths and as a breastfeeding mother I do not feel comfortable frequenting an establishment that has admittedly multiple instances of discriminating against breastfeeding mothers.
This also happens to be the same life guard we have previously witnessed taking a shot at the bar so if he’s so concerned with my friend nursing her baby, I have to question if he was in a sober state of mind doing so? I was never going to say anything/ complain about the life guards taking shots (we witnessed two) because it wasn’t my place but when that same life guard has an issue with respecting a nursing mother- then we...
Read moreAfter driving over 2 1/2-hours arrived only to be met at the front desk by a very rude, nonchalant staff that kept repeating if winds are 25 mph or more the water park may be shut down. I heard you the first time!! The staff must have been offended I was redeeming for two guest Get Out passes which I informed immediately it was 3 of us. Do not add your business to get people to come, if you don't want to accept the pass. Terrible engagement and obstacles are unnecessary. After he ask me to redeem the pass which indicated to mark Yes as a function he then lied and acted as if he did not just see me click the redeem button I was so frustrated not that he wanted to see because he lied wasted 30 minutes of our time just for me to have the company to resend the redemption then the team lead comes over offering food as if this is supposed to excite me for the total disrespect and dishonesty of his employee never having him apologize for his lack of service. Yet he lies and says he will look at the cameras and investigate.I believe the Team leader was Joseph while the other employee want to be Eminem with fake gold chains stood around looking like the liar he is!!!! This is awful thank goodness I forgot his name Vanilla want to be ICE. IDK liar to say the least. After wasted time I'm still furious of the total disrespect. Overall the lifeguards were great my son loves water parks I just wish they would filter the lazy pool better it has lots of debris. This place is not huge but a more cozy water park with potential the other staff seem decent. I just won't be going back ever again this could have been our little low key cool place for fun but I won't spend a dime to be disrespected and treated with such humiliation. I will stick to our 6 flags season passes where lines are longer but respect is always and if mistakes are made staff are decent enough to take ownership and simply apologize. Try Hurricane Harbor or Big surf or anywhere but here don't...
Read moreReally disappointed in the only water park we have here in Yuma. Prices are pretty high and not much to do while in the water area just float round and round or wait in a long line to get onto a slide. Customer service here is unheard of apparently, the staff is rude and even management gives you attitude. Make sure you hold on to your receipts as well so you don’t get fraudulent charges on your card (I got charged for other people’s drinks). During our visit we ran our credit card for 1 drink (no open tab) and signed off on original receipt for ONE drink and come to find the bartender had left the tab open and added about $55 to our bill, that a few days later I questioned with management. Luckily I had kept my receipt with the information needed to dispute the transaction and spoke to a manager who ended up refunding that transaction. However, when I spoke to her a second time that day she argued that the receipt had been signed by the cardholder for that amount and her demeanor had changed significantly when discussing the issue I had with that. I was now more concerned about this situation because that meant someone had forged our signature in order to complete that transaction. So when I expressed my concern with the manager and recommended she look into the bartenders transaction since I was 100% sure we had not signed for all the drinks on that tab, she went to say that it didn’t matter since she had already refunded my transaction. So after this experience we will not be going back there again and for those visiting Waylon’s, be mindful of who’s running your credit card and keep your receipts because there are some fraudulent things happening...
