Colt Creek State Park (located in Lakeland, FL) is a very nice and well-maintained park. It is managed by the Southwest Florida Water Management District. The RV sites have water and electric but no sewer hookups. They do have two dump-tank areas which is nice. Most pads are gravel but there are a couple with concrete pads. I would like the park to plant some shade trees. Although each site is very roomy, it is wide open to the sun. The park could have fit twice the number of sites in the location, but they did not, giving the park an open private feel. Each site has a permanent fire ring, a separate BBQ, and picknick table.
We stayed at this park over the 2019 Independence Weekend. I’m going to give this park a 4-star rating because it is well maintained. The bathrooms are clean, and the land is well pristine. The caretakers and staff are friendly and helpful.
This is a great place to get away from it all since there is nothing to do in the immediate area. There are no historic sites, museums, etc. in the area. Therefore, this is a good place for a group gathering or family reunion where you do not expect to site see. They do have three lakes and a dock you can fish. Since the tempter ranged from 91-97 degrees and humidity was 80%+ while we stayed at the park, we did not have the opportunity to fish in the lake. Although, it is a nice park we will probably not be back to visit. There is simply...

Read moreDO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE RESERVING!!! SHADY SHADY PEOPLE!!! As my daughter and I wanted get away and do some camping we researched and found Colt Creek in Lakeland, FL. I made reservations online for camping. Mind you, I had to pay when reserving. Not a big deal. So we get there to find that the camp sites are gravel and no way nor no where to tie/stake down your tent. We prayed no wind gusts came. We stayed at one camp site the first 3 nights and were suppose to then move to another camp site on Sunday. Come to find out the camp site we were to be moving to WAS WALKING ONLY ACCESS. No vehicles could get to this site. THIS information was NEVER relayed to me at check in nor on the website. When you have a truck AND trailer full of stuff it was not feasible to WALK to this site. Mind you we were reserved to stay an entire week. So, I speak to someone about this and asked for a refund. I was told NO REFUNDS. I advised that they could just put it back in the card I reserved with. Again, I was advised no refunds. How is this acceptable when THE PARK did not disclose this information via website nor at check in. I want my $80 refunded due to negligence on...
