Starfish beach is located on the northern side of Phu Quoc Island. Since it is off the beaten track, it’s not heavily impacted by tourists, which is really nice! Here are a few tips to help you plan your trip to starfish beach: 1. You will need to rent a car, motorbike, or hire a guide/driver to take you there. There is no public transportation to starfish beach. It is about an hour drive north of the main city of Duong. As you near the north coast, the road gets pretty rough. 2. Starfish beach is pretty remote. Aside from restaurants, you will not have access to other services. Plan accordingly and bring extra snacks/bottled water. 3. After you park and walk out onto the beach, you can walk about 15 minutes to the east along the beach for an even better spot to check out the starfish! 4. The restaurant we had at was really good! No one got sick, everything was delicious. When in doubt, we always ordered cooked food, no fresh produce, to limit our risk while in Vietnam. 5. Please don’t forget that starfish are animals, please don’t remove them from their habitat, or the water, as you can harm them. Be respectful of nature! I hope these tips help make your visit to Starfish Beach as fun as ours! Hopefully you will not be there during an algae bloom like we were so the water should be much more clear! Starfish Beach is on the far north side of the island, so chances are it's going to be a bit of a drive from wherever you are. Although my GPS stated that is was roughly a 65 minute drive form my hotel, I glanced down at the map after 30 minutes and it seemed like I was almost there. And the reason for that is the paved road turns into dirt in the last 25 minutes of the drive (as of January 2019), so your speed takes a massive dip as you try to navigate the road and keep your motorbike from falling down. You can also take a taxi, but make sure you arrange a ride back as you won't find any random taxis driving around in this secluded area. I went on a sunny afternoon in January, and I really could not have asked for better conditions. I came to see starfish, but I was surprised at how nice the beach itself is. There were clear blue skies, a white sandy beach, and the water was calm, clean, and clear. I walked out to chest-high water to where I was surrounded by starfish in every direction! This of course, contradicts what some of the other reviews and photos showing murky waters, so it must depend on the time of year and weather conditions. Providing you go at the right time, I think Starfish Beach beats Sao Beach by a mile. It was quiet with few other visitors, and I grabbed a table near a drink lady free of charge (other than the few beers I bought from her at 20,000 VND each).

Came here 2 weeks ago with families from Singapore and HCM. So we didn't check weather for this whole 5D4N Phú Quốc trip, it's monsoon season with non stop rain and winds. Reached here in 2 hired SUVs at around 3pm so strong waves and high tide, I'm good and equally thrilled with this version of the beach, love the incredibly fine sand, still boggled of how there could be some part of the beach where sand looks dry and "benign" but we could sink in knee deep, 3 of us lost 1 slipper each in the process but it was fun. So many instagram worthy spots: stairway to heaven, wooden walkway far out to the sea with tide so high sending chill down through our spine hehe.. it reminded us a little of the path to the blue house in Perth, only that with rougher water. No starfish of course. So we figured from the driver that the best time to visit this beach or any other beaches in Phú Quốc in general is from November to April where we will get that sunshine throughout the day, still, clear and blue water for us to see to the bottom of the sea, and star fish :). Whatever appear in typical postcards of Phú Quốc beaches is taken during this time frame. Traveling during this June time-frame, what we get is strong waves, mulky sea water as rain washing down soil from inland... Will definitely come back for that star fish and clear water that I missed.

Von all unseren Reisen betrachte ich diesen Strand als einen unserer Top 3! Wir haben ihn liebevoll "die Malediven Vietnams" getauft. Unfassbar geile Wasserfarben, ein absolut beeindruckendes Naturschauspiel mit all den Seesternen, ewig lange flaches Meer... Einfach nur wahnsinnig toll!!! Hier ein paar Facts: 1. Anfahrt Ja, ihr Fahrt die letzten Kilometer nicht über eine befestigte Straße. Ihr habt ein paar Buckel und Schlaglöcher und viel Sandige Wege. Aber im Ernst: Was wir auf unserer Nusa Penida Rollertour auf Bali erlebt haben war 100 Mal katastrophaler! Die Straße ist echt harmlos. Ja, Rasen solltet bzw könnt ihr tatsächlich nicht. Ist aber auch nicht schlimm. Fahrt langsam und vorsichtig und genießt einfach die Landschaft im euch herum. Ihr kommt wirklich total easy zum starfish Beach mit dem Roller. Spart euch teure Ausflugskosten. 2. Beach Ein wirklich toller Strand der was von den Malediven hat (OK... Wir kennen die Malediven noch nicht persönlich, aber der Bildervergleich ist ähnlich). Es werden einige Liegen bereit gestellt welche ihr für 50k/Liege mieten könnt. An sich für die Lage ein fairer Preis. Leider gibt es keine Polster Auflagen, was das liegen auf Dauer ein wenig unbequem macht. Getränke könnte ihr dort ebenfalls Recht günstig (500ml Wasser = 10k / Dose Cola = 15k) erwerben. Müll konnten wir am Strand an einigen Ecken entdecken, aber nichts was uns in Asien tatsächlich schocken würde... Das Wasser war absolut sauber und klar! Keine Plastikflut oder ähnliches beim schnorcheln. Der Strand selber ebenfalls sauber gehalten und Mülleimer waren vorhanden 3. Seesterne Vorab: ich könnte echt einen Brechreiz über die bodenlose Dummheit anderer Menschen bekommen. Wir haben es leider persönlich mitbekommen wie einige Personen tatsächlich Seesterne mit nach Hause nehmen wollten. Was für unfassbare A....löcher! Daher bitte die eindringliche bitte an ALLE Nationalitäten und Bildungsgrade: Finger weg von den Seesternen! Es sind Lebewesen! Lebewesen die bereits nach wenigen Minuten außerhalb des Wassers STERBEN! Ja, ich sage absichtlich sterben und nicht "kaputt gehen"! Ihr zerstört damit wirklich ein Lebewesen! Auch an alle Eltern dieser Welt: passt auf eure Kinder auf und erklärt ihnen, warum diese tollen Lebewesen kein Spielzeug sind das man im Sand verbuddeln kann! Eine junge hübsche Frau war der Meinung eine komplette Foto Session mit zwei Seesternen vor ihren entblößten Brüsten durchzuführen... Tja, Schönheit Schütz wohl leider nicht vor Dummheit! Ich muss aber auch fairer Weise erwähnen, das ich viel mehr Leute gesehen habe, die die Seesterne wieder zurück ins Wasser getragen haben... Die ihren Kindern eindringlich gesagt haben dass sie die Sterne nur anschauen dürfen... Danke an dieser Stelle an alle Menschen mit Verstand! Genießt einfach dieses wirklich tolle Naturschauspiel in vollen Zügen... Dafür sind eure Augen vollkommen ausreichend. ;-) Kleiner Tip: nehmt eure Schnorchel Sets mit und wenn ihr habt eine gopro (o.ä.). Geht so weit wie möglich ins Wasser und wenn ihr bis zum Bauch im Wasser seid und den dunkleren Wasserbereich vor euch seht: Maske auf und genießen... Hier reiht sich unter Wasser ein Seestern an den anderen! Wenn ihr mit der Hand über das Seegras wedelt so dass es sich bewegt werdet ihr darunter auch noch weitere Seesterne entdecken. ;-) Es ist wirklich ein wunderschöner Platz den man (noch) für sehr wenig Aufwand und Geld genießen kann. Einige User sind hier anderer Meinung, vielleicht habt ihr an dieser Stelle echt Pech gehabt auf eurem Ausflug. Wir können (bis auf ein paar bescheuerte Touristen) nur gutes berichten, was die beigefügten Bilder hoffentlich ein wenig untermalen werden. GoPro Fotos/Videos vom Schnorcheln werde ich aus Deutschland nachreichen. Eine Tour hierher lohnt sich absolut. Wir werden während unseres Aufenthaltes auf Phu Quoc definitiv häufiger hin fahren!
