For as long as I can remember I've always enjoyed our visits to Westonbirt Arboretum. From our visits nearly 50 years ago with my mum and dad when we were chikdren, to visits with our own children, and then today a visit with my mum. The colours constantly change, and over the years, I've seen the Arboretum grow and develop to the Arboretum that we see and enjoy today. And this time of the year is undoubtedly one of the best times to see the colours, lovely. I had the pleasure, over the years, when I worked for the local Constabulary in Cirencester seeing some of the famous and not so famous bands and groups perform at the Arboretum, a tradition that continues today. The staff are always sp friendly and helpful, as Tracey was today in helping mum with a mobility scooter. The blanket came in really handy as the sun slowly sank behind the trees, setting in the west. The pathways are clear, easy to navigate, and are so easy to follow. A lovely few hours spent just wandering the pathways, finishing up with a hot chocolate and a biscuit at one of the small outlets that are dotted around the entrance to the Arboretum Level 9 Google reviewer; 1,000 plus reviews with nearly 2 million views and over 12,000 photos with over 55 million views and still going strong πͺ. IMAGES: OCTOBER 2022 PLUS OCTOBER 2024 UPDATE.I have visited Westonbirt 3 times now as I wanted to shoot the Autumn colours. The first visit was in the Acacia Avenue and then the second two the Maple Loop. Both are stunning, the colours are vibrant, the yellows reds and oranges have really been dramatic this year. This is a large site , you will need plenty of time to get round everything. There are plenty of stalls for coffee, and plenty of take away choices. The staff are absolutely lovely and always give me good tips for my photos. This is a lovely visit easily deserving five stars, and deserves its reputation as one of the best arboretums in the country. I will let the images (hopefully) do the talking. A Photo Tip if I may. Shoot more Landscape as opposed to portrait. We see in landscape, our field of vision is Landscape 3X2 (width X height). While sensors vary in size, most sensors are Landscape 3X2 (both camera and phone), they mimic what our sub conscious is most comfortable with and expects to see. .

What a great day out. Upon arrival, the car park looked very busy and I awaited the inevitable queue to enter but I was mistaken. We were approached by a staff member when joining the queue who was very polite and offered the option to enter through another gate. As the queue was moving fast we declined but thought that was a good start. The Arboretum itself offers a myriad of walks, either long or short, dog friendly, non-dog walks (the old arboretum is out of bounds to our doggy friends), there's also options for those with specific needs. There are just so many places for snacks and refreshments at very reasonable prices and the scenery is breathtaking. Although we only spent 2.5 hours there taking in about 4.5 miles of colourful joy, we could have spent a lot longer. Autumn is professed to be the time to go but I think it would offer just as much joy at anytime of the year. At Β£15 per adult and dogs + babies being free, I personally think it ond of the better days out in the area and worth the money.

Finally visited Westonbirt for the autumn colours. It was very beautiful, very crowded & very expensive; the price would stop low income families from going, which is a shame for a national arboretum (the annual membership seems good value if you're local though). The new footbridge treetop walkway, over to the Silk Wood, was a lovely addition & saved a steep incline. Very accessible for those using wheelchairs & mobility scooters. Would like more places to sit around the arboretum, as my mum in her late 70s, with mobility issues, found one empty bench in 3 hours to use, due to high number of visitors and low number of benches, which stopped us from exploring further, as she needs regular pit stops. A restaurant & several food carts were busy near the entrance, & we got a good latte from the coffee cart. Food was expensive, so bring a picnic if on low budget. Glad we went to see the peak leaf-peeping colours, but wouldn't do a repeat visit in a hurry, as think national trust membership much better value.

Beautiful place to come always, even when it's not the autumn colour (although that is when I went this time and it's very popular!) They're are wheel chair friendly routes, places for dog walkers and it's very children friendly (look out for the gruffalo and gruffalo's child statues!). There's two main parts - one that allows dogs and one that doesn't, so hopefully pleasing for everyone. The tree top walkway is really stunning (I didn't go there this time) and there are walks you can go on with estimated times, or you can just wander as you please. There's a nice cafΓ© - although it can be pretty busy - with both indoor and outdoor seating. Service can seem a bit slow but there's probably more people than you can see at first glance - everyone's working very hard. Westonbirt is a really magical place to visit, and don't limit yourself to only autumn. Tickets aren't cheap, but there are lots of discounts for students, people on low incomes etc.
