These include:
Bugs/insects and an inappropriate response to them I found approximately small 15 bugs (crawling with wings) on January 25th (Evening 3). These were crawling in the sink, over my toiletries and on the floor The hotel’s response was to move me to the next room. This had an adjoining bathroom and door (with gaps between the door and the carpet/floor) When I complained, the hotel was very dismissive, suggesting bugs are not uncommon at this hotel
Threatening/rude staff The key incident occurred on January 26th (Morning 3) – an older, large, stocky male Concierge stood over me and attempted to physically and verbally intimidate me (I am a slim female) A tour pick-up driver arrived early (at 6.35-6.40 am instead of the 6.45am time advised) Breakfast at the hotel is only available from 6.30 exactly The Concierge came to the table and physically stood over me and my meal, shouting loudly that I needed to stop eating and leave. He raised his hand repeatedly over my plate. He refused to let me take even the remainder of my food already on my plate with me. Of note, another male being picked up for the same tour was still gathering his things from his room. The driver was also understanding. Edenia’s Concierge was the problem.
Lack of basic provisions (particularly water) Unlike other hotels, this hotel does not provide at least 1 complimentary bottle of water on arrival The taps in the room are fitted low so water bottles cannot be filled up When I attempted to fill an existing bottle with some water for the day on January 24th (Morning 1) during breakfast, I was strongly berated by the Breakfast server “Ana” saying I would be charged for the water at Room Service prices if I continued
General other issues with the hotel The above 3 issues are a major health and safety concern. Other issues which are minor by comparison, but should be noted include: o Extremely poor internet/wifi o Poor quality bedding/blankets (holes in bedding) o Distance from the city - There is however an hourly shuttle service - this shuttle service and the driver (most professional/courteous employee encountered there) were the only positive thing about Edenia Hotel I stayed in 4 other hotels in Argentina (1 in Ushsuaia, 2 in BA and 1 in Iguazu Falls) which were all fantastic so I don’t believe these issues to be related to language/cultural problems.
I have photos of the bugs and the bedding if this website, the hotel or interested guests would like to follow up on...
Read moreWe had to stay at this hotel because it was booked as part of our tour. When we checked in the hotel seemed nice. It is located by a nice lake and has good views of the city at night. However once we started to explore the hotel we realized it’s shortcomings. The first lunch on the day we arrived was a disaster. We were the only people in the restaurant but had to wait more than an hour for the food. When it finally arrived the food was overcooked with no salt and no taste. The hotel is relatively far from the city center. They do provide shuttle transportation once every hour but most of the time we had to take taxi as the timing was not convenient. The hotel provided WiFi but it just doesn’t work. You have wait 10 minutes to open a simple email making you feel you are in the 90s. We tried to research where to go for dinner but gave up because of the slow speed of the network. They say they have a gym but you have to see it to believe it- it’s so pathetic. We were there for New Year’s Eve. They had a lobby bar but there was no bartender ! Out travel agency had included dinner for New Year’s Eve but the dinner wouldn’t start until 9.30 PM. We were hungry after a long day and on asking if we could order some appetizers the response was that they are busy and nothing was available until the buffet opened at 9.30 PM! The hotel has potential but it’s sad that customer service is not at all a priority in this place. I would give it 1 star but for the fact that the receptionist was trying her best and that the hotel is closer to the glaciers than the ones in the center...
Read moreWe stayed at the Edenia Punta Soberana Hotel for 4 nights during a recent trip to Argentina. The hotel was great! Staff was welcoming and accommodating. There was a slight language barrier as we asked for towels (in our admittedly poor Spanish) and it took 4 different asks to finally get them sent to our room. This hotel is located pretty far away from the city center - I think it would take at least 45 minutes to walk there. The shuttle runs on time, every two hours during the day and every hour in the evening. My reason for not giving it 5 stars was the location of our room. This hotel very nicely provides a game room with a pool table and a ping pong table. Unfortunately, our room was closest to the game room. The stated hours of the game room are 10am-10pm, but those rules were not enforced and we were woken early in the morning and late at night by the sounds of pool balls hitting each other. Breakfast buffet each morning was great. Make sure you try the calafate jelly - it is delicious! If you are looking for a beautiful view and a stay at a hotel with friendly staff, this is the...
