I arrived in Trelew without a place to stay - unexpectedly - and I scrambled to find a free hotel room at a decent race. So, I guess you could say I stumbled upon Hotel Galicia by accident. But it was such a good thing that I did...||||From the moment I walked in, Ariel at the front desk was so helpful! I was so disoriented and had so many questions that he must've spent about 20-25 minutes kindly and patiently helping me out. He asked me what kind of room I wanted, and when I said I wanted peace and quiet he insured he would put me in an appropriate room (which he did). He even discounted the already lower rate as I agreed to pay in cash. ||||I explained that I had hoped to see Punta Tombo to visit the penguins, and do the dolphin excursion, all in one day. I know that if I had rented a car it would have been easy to do, but I didn't really feel comfortable or safe doing so all on my own. If I booked the group excursion, due to how they're scheduled I could have only done one or the other. As I didn't have any more time in Trelew, he arranged for me to have a taxi for myself which charged me only the route from the hotel to Punta Tombo and back, but the driver took me to Punta Tombo to see the penguins and waited, then to Rawson to go on the dolphin excursion and waited again for me, then back to the hotel to get my bag, then swing my a shop for me to buy something I needed, then swing by the planetarium I wanted to see, and finally drop me off at the bus terminal.||||Furthermore, due to the kind of day I had planned for myself, food would not have easily been found on my route, so he suggested I go over to the supermarket where i bought supplies, and then let me use all the kitchen facilities to prepare sandwiches and things to eat for the next day. I even got to store it all in the hotel fridge.||||The breakfast was simple but certainly sufficient (tea/coffee, pastries, ham and cheese, cereals). The wifi worked with no problem and there was a free computer in reception to use at any time. There was no air conditioning but the room was so cool that I didn't need it - and there was a fan if I chose to use it. The bathroom was comfortable and included toiletries. But it was the kindness and exceptional service that won me over. I was very pleased and would...
Read moreThis hotel was pretty much what we expected for a stopover point during a 3 week road trip around Patagonia. The website advertises that parking was included but upon arrival, we were told by the not-so-friendly reception clerk that in order to use the parking we were supposed to make separate reservations. We didn't and lo and behold, the parking lot was full. He vaguely pointed us in the direction of paid parking nearby which ended up working out fine (we needed parking because we had a lot of luggage and supplies in our car). There was no one to help take luggage to our rooms. The clerk begrudgingly helped us with our suitcases when he saw our 8 year old twins dragging suitcases up the stairs. The rooms are clean but very dated and awkwardly set up. The street below is noisy. The breakfast room in the morning is small and depressing with a very small selection. I would not...
Read moreGalicia hotel is centrally located near the museum and restaurants, it is one floor hotel, our room was with a window street view, the room is clean comfortable and the size is OK for short stay. The breakfast is good. The receptionists are the highlight of the hotel as they are very friendly and helpful. In Trelew it is difficult to arrange tours as most of tourists stay in Puerto Madryn, yet the receptionist arranged for us to join a tour at Puerto Madryn to Peninsula Valdes and the tour guide picked up us from our hotel in Trelew, also they arranged for us to hire a private taxi(there was no organized tours) to go to Punta Tombo and Gaiman city. The receptionist also fixed us an early breakfast at 6:30 am to allow us join the tour at 7 am. We highly...
