My wife and I stayed 2 nights with a Visa secured Booking.com reservation.||After arriving at 6AM by Chalten Bus from El Chalten, we were discharged in front of closed Hotel Belgrano. We were in a dazed state due to the 10 hour bus ride over some rough gravel and broken pavement roads, with little to no sleep and our weakened health caused by bronchitis. Since Hotel Kelman is not marked on Google Maps, we explored to no avail but finally found people to point us in the proper direction. Its located 350 meters north on the main San Martin, adjacent to the bright yellow Supermercado la Mercantil. Arriving at 6:30 AM, it was all locked up with no one in sight, even when I called out. Obviously there was some miscommunication with Booking.com.||We saw activity next door at the Hotel y Restaurant Americano, as their guests were all gathering for their 6:30AM buffet breakfast, and we joined them(80Ag each). ||At 7AM, we returned to Hotel Kelman, finding the door finally open. The Spanish speaking caretakers had no idea of our emails or pending arrival, but after multiple translations and an hour wait, they readied a front triple, so we could sleep. ||In the afternoon, we saw the normal hotel receptionist who likely had acknowledged our Booking.com email and the info had not been passed on. We have had this problem before as Booking.com makes the communication process very easy on both ends but there is a lack of direct responsibility/accountability. ||This hotel is very clean and well presented and appears to be the best in town. Our renovated wood floor #201 had a comfortable double, 2 large nightstands, a twin we used for storage, wardrobe, a small desk with chair with a wall TV(no English), and a fully outfitted galley bathroom with a dreadful small shower with clingy curtain. We saw several better bathroom configurations in other rooms. We used their spacious and fully outfitted kitchen facility in the back to made soup and tea, had good secure wifi, and a good 7AM breakfast at the new adjoining restaurant run by a very nice conscientious man.||An odd situation our 2nd day when we were away on an 11 hour tour. We returned at 19:30PM to an unclean room(no trash removal, no toilet paper) but before solving that problem, we had a dispute over the amount of Ap/1 usd to total my bill. The internet said 18.65Ap and they wanted 19.23Ap, so I agreed to use 19Ap/USD and the room cost came in what was scheduled on my Booking.com. If they had honored my original communication, extra charges would have been in order.||We chose this hotel as a base for touring UNESCO Cueva de las Manos 118 km south, and for taking the next day’s 7:30 AM bus to Caleta Olivia. Even with our communication glitches, this is a fine value...
Read moreAfter getting stuck in Perito Moreno for two extra days because of a national strike we were extremely glad we chose Hotel Kelman.||||The hotel is on the main street, maybe ten minutes walk from the bus station, and close enough to the few amenities (and I do mean very few) the town has to offer. ||||I would normally indicate whether the hotel is close to local bars and restaurants, however, at the time we visited there didn’t seem to be any bars in town and the few local restaurants there were never seemed to be open. Fortunately, Terra Santa restaurant is adjacent to the hotel and offered a reasonably priced menu . . . . including a variety of “disco’s” (the restaurant’s tasty casserole) which we’d highly recommend trying.||||Our nice, modern, extremely clean room included a double and two single beds, had a flat screen television, closet space for our belongings, decent heating, and excellent free wifi. The bathroom was quite compact but spotlessly clean and more than adequate for our needs.||||A typical Argentina breakfast was included in our rate and was served next door at the Terra Santa restaurant.||||Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and despite our terrible Spanish were able to help us out with all the things we needed, including booking extra nights once we realized we were stranded during the strike.||||Overall would happily recommend this hotel as a great base from which to explore local attractions such as Cueva...
Read moreTraveling from Chile Chico on the way to see Cueva de Las Manos. This is a nice place to stay overnight. Centrally located in the city of Perito Moreno (not to be confused with the Glacier by the same name). My room was not big, but everything was new, the bed was comfortable, nice bathroom. The window faced the main street but it was not noisy. WiFi was good. Breakfast was great: a large variety of food, much better than most breakfasts offered by similar hotels and is included in the price. I made the reservation in advance over the phone and they did not ask me for a credit card to hold the reservation. Definitely would recommend as a very...
