This was the worst treatment I have ever received at a hotel.||||For context, I am a black 35 year old male who is a digital nomad and decided to visit Iguazú solo. ||||When I arrived I was able to check in early although I wasn’t greeted with a welcome drink although the woman beside me was and every other person at the hotel was. ||||The room was fine and acceptable. No complaints there. ||||I went to lunch at the restaurant by the pool. The waiters laughed at me for no apparent reason. My meal was actually very good (ojo de bife) and when I went to pay (my waiter disappeared for some reason) the woman was super rude to me. Gave me a scowl. Answered my questions with a scowl. Absolutely no hospitality. ||||The next morning I went to breakfast. It was fine. The staff there was very nice.||||I came back for lunch after traveling the entire day and they told me that they wouldn’t seat me with 10 minutes to closing (why? But it was the same woman from the day before so I wasn’t surprised) and they said I could order at the pool. I chose to go inside to the bar because it was hot and asked her for a menu. She said they could only do sandwiches and offered me tostadas mixtos. The order I received was literally half of the normal order. I know because my order came out then two more came out that were double the size. A couple came up and order two gigantic sandwiches — one of jamón cocido and idk what the other was — this was never offered to me. To make it worse, my sandwich has a huge piece of hard fat in it. I was so worried they had tampered with my food and grossed out that I didn’t finish it and went to my room.||||The staff didn’t think I spoke Spanish so they were constantly gossiping about me. Calling me a thief, monkey, horrible stuff. ||||I stayed in my room the rest of the day. ||||For breakfast the last again lots of stares and jeering. A bunch of people moved away from my table when I sat, saying that they didn’t want to be next to a black man. Not even joking, some 1950s level of racism. None of the wait staff greeted me and that same table started actively saying racist things about me as they yelled throughout the restaurant: he’s a theif, they should allow single black men here, he looks like a monkey. The staff never said anything although I told them about it. Just looked and they didn’t care. It was horrible. |||| Before I left I told the front desk staff and she was understanding but that was all they cared to do. The staff was even laughing when I came to make...
Read moreNot enough words in the English dictionary to describe how great this experience was for my wife and I. We travel frequently — as in 22 countries in the past three years. We seldom stay in 5-star hotels, well, because they’re pricey. But for our 5-year wedding anniversary and my wife’s birthday, we decided to splurge a bit.
It was the last leg of a long trip in Argentina and by far the best. From the moment we checked in, the staff was so courteous — opening doors, giving us a fresh mango juice (we were dressed for the cold of Buenos Aires and it was warm), so they could tell we were not prepared. Bruno helped us check in and was very kind. They grabbed our bags and brought them to our room.
It’s the first hotel I’ve ever actually felt “clean” in the room. It was immaculate and very spacious. We had a beautiful view of the jungle. That evening we went to dinner, which is included, and were blown away by the assortment of food! Btw, it’s different every night. Again, the staff was so well-trained and kind. One, in particular, Omar, the manager, quickly become our good friend!
From breakfast to dinner and everything in between, it was a special experience that can’t be topped. We’d grown close to the staff in our week there, who was genuinely sad to hear we were leaving. After my wife shedding a few tears and causing Omar to as well, we hit the road with the best memory attached.
This was a 6/5 experience, solely because of how well we were treated and the accommodations. It was the best experience of any hotel we’ve ever stayed at, which I hope says something based on our extensive travels. We WILL be back. We feel like family now. Thank you for everything....
Read moreFirst the positive points: very clean, very friendly and helpful staff, nice rooms and good child animation. Also: excellent caiperinhas. The negative points: the breakfast is terrible, the location is not cosy, it's one big area without any separation. They have lots of options but most bad... The juices are bad, the bread isn't special, cookies aren't good , eggs taste funny etc etc. Very disappointed about this, especially after having stayed in many Brazilian hotels, also 3 and 4 stars with a much better quality of breakfast. Dinner is a bit better but could certainly improve, this isn't 5 star quality. Second negative point: the info desk that should be able to provide info about Iguazu is terribly misinformed! They told us the total distance of lower, upper and diablo was 2 km while it's more than 6km. Also regarding timings: 20 mins for lower circuit??? When we asked about strollers they didn't know anything, while they just rent these out in the park. The hotel isn't bad, but not worth 5 stars nor the prices...
