Armenia Hostel — Hotel in Yerevan

When I arrived at the airport at 3.45am on my first day in Armenia, Arsen (who is a driver of one of the Armenia Hostel's taxis) was waiting for me with a card with my full name printed on it. He carried my heavy luggage to the free taxi and drove me to Armenia Hostel. Like all the staff there, he was friendly and welcoming. One of the receptionists went up on the lift with me to carry my luggage to my room. I slept till 11am the next morning when Alik, who most professionally and warmly looks after things at the hostel, knocked on my door because he and Alla, who prepares the free breakfast (and other great meals for those who order them), were worried that I hadn't had breakfast. After an excellent breakfast of omelette, cheeses,butter, bread rolls and fennel and parsley with tea and coffee (I was too full to have the sausages, jam etc that they offered) I went to my room to unpack. My room was lovely. Very clean and just the right temperature. I had the window open most of the time. There was a net to prevent insects getting in and it is totally effective. There were both a cooling fan and a fan heater in the room, but I didn't need either. ||The beds were very comfortable with quilts, pillows and freshly-laundered and ironed bedlinen provided. Other things provided include hairdryer, fridge, TV, towel, kettle. There's a good supermarket over the road, so it's easy to get the things you need if you want to eat in the room. The supermarket even has a pharmacy section.||The en suite bathroom was very clean and with the kind of shower I like - powerful and with plenty of hot water 24 hours a day. The loo flush was excellent and there was plenty of room above the washbasin for toothpaste, soap, cosmetics etc.||There was free wifi all the time.||A lady named Janna cleaned the room and bathroom daily and emptied the bins. Another lady cleaned the corridors and stairs daily.||The wardrobe was roomy and there was plenty of room on the table for me to both eat and work on my laptop. By the way, I left my laptop and all valuables in the room whenever I went out. Everyone working there is totally trustworthy.||When I needed to go into town, a receptionist showed me to a mashrutka (taxi-minibus for just 100 dram per person) and paid for my journey because I didn't have any drams in change. Both mashrutkas and taxis wait outside the hostel. A taxi into town is only 1,200 dram (less than 2 pounds sterling). If you ask for the opera, you will be dropped right in the centre near all the sights, shops, post office and cafes. On your first morning, Alik gives you a piece of paper with the hostel address and contact details typed on it in both Armenian and English. You just show this to a taxi driver when you want to go back to the hostel. Or you can just get in mashrutka number 55.||Everyone working in the hostel was helpful. ||They seemed to anticipate the needs of their guests. But they were also unobtrusive. And nothing was too much trouble. They didn't mind at all when I said I needed to leave for the airport at 1.30am to go back to England. Their free taxi transfer from and back to the airport is available at whatever time you need it.||I was in Armenia to have meetings with students of English and I was often back late. It was safe in the area around the hostel any time of night. There was no trouble of any kind. (But that was true of Yerevan in general.)||If you stay at Armenia Hostel and need to tell non-English speaking Armenian people where your hostel is, you can say 'hanekatselan' and 'massif 2'. But you can also just show the address that Alik will give you.||I don't know how they provide such a comfortable stay for the price. I think it's because they don't need to spend on advertizing. On June 26, 2017 we made a confirmed booking for Armenia Hostel via Booking.Com for 8 nights. We called them prior to the flight of my brother-in-law to make sure that someone will pick him up at the Airport as it would be his first time to travel there. I was able to speak to Hamlet at least 3 times prior to my brother-in-law's arrival. Everything was well in our conversation/agreement but to our surprise, nobody showed up to pick up my BIL. We tried calling Hamlet/the Hostel but no one is answering our calls. He arrived at the airport 3pm from Dubai, we have been contacting the Hostel until 7pm but no one is responding in our mails and calls. This is soooo horrible to the highest level!!! Imagine being at the airport without knowing where to go in a place you are not familiar with?! I am so upset with Armenia Hostel! I trusted them because of the reviews i have read thats why i did not expect...

اینجا یک بهشت واقعی است. من به ارمنستان رفته بودم فقط یک ماه بمانم اما پس از اقامت در اتاق 7c هفده ماه در آنجا ماندم. رفتار مدیریت هاستل و پرسنل خیلی خوب و صمیمی بود. امنیت و آرامش آنجا خیلی عالی بود و من از آنها تشکر می کنم. من به همه مسافران توصیه می کنم حتما به این هاستل بیایند. درب ورودی نگهبان 24 ساعته دارد و تمامی طبقات دوربین های مداربسته وجود دارند تا امنیت مسافران را تامین کنند. اتاقها تنوع زیادی دارند از یک نفره تا بیشتر، و قیمت اتاقها از سایرهتلهای ایروان خیلی ارزانتر است. روبروی هاستل چند ایستگاه اتوبوس وجود دارد که اتوبوس های شماره 44 و 5 ظرف مدت بیست دقیقه شما را به مرکز شهر میرسانند. اطراف هاستل رستورانهای ارزان قیمت و سوپرمارکت وجود دارد و اگر بخواهید از این هاستل تا مرکز خرید مگامال پیاده روی کنید ده دقیقه طول می کشد. تشکر از مدیریت محترم هاستل و الیک عزیز که هیچوقت نمیتوانم خوبیها و مهربانیهایشان را فراموش کنم. من از شما متشکرم This locale can be aptly described as a genuine paradise. Originally intending to sojourn in Armenia for a mere month, my stay in room 7c remarkably extended to seventeen months. Throughout this time, the conduct exhibited by both the hostel's management and staff was marked by an exceptional level of professionalism and cordiality. The establishment's commitment to security and tranquility was particularly commendable, for which I am profoundly grateful. I wholeheartedly recommend this hostel to all discerning travelers. Notably, the entrance is vigilantly guarded around the clock, and each floor is equipped with CCTV surveillance to ensure the safety and well-being of its patrons. The accommodations on offer encompass a diverse range, from single rooms to more spacious options, all of which are attractively priced in comparison to other lodging establishments in Yerevan. Furthermore, the hostel's strategic location is of great advantage. Numerous bus stops are conveniently situated in close proximity, with buses numbered 44 and 5 providing swift access to the city center within a mere twenty-minute journey. Additionally, there is a wealth of economical dining establishments and supermarkets in the vicinity. Moreover, a ten-minute stroll will lead you from this hostel to the Megamall shopping center.
