We camped here over the October long weekend with a big group of 5 families each with 2-3 kids, and we had 1 big dog. We were able to get 4 tent campsites that were positioned in a circle (21-24) which meant we were able to use the middle section for all the fun things you do when you camp with groups and kids. One of our friends had a caravan and they were just a stones throw away on a caravan-friendly site.
The fact that the caravan park is small is a huge bonus. No matter where you are in the park the amenities and camp kitchen are nearby. On one of the busiest times of the year, car traffic was low which meant our kids could ride scooters and bikes in relative safety. There was also very little need to use a car for our stay as beach access was nearby for both the leash free dog section of the beach, and the rest of Rainbow Beach. We saw so many whales breaching and jumping out of the water! The skate park and playground, though not located on the caravan park grounds, is just across the road, and also conveniently located next to a convenience store, petrol station and fish and chips take-away. Food here is pretty good too! We order a chicken burger and some seafood. Not bad for a little local takeaway and our 2 and 4 year old devoured the chips and squid after a big morning at the beach.
The amenities are spotless and very well kept. Water pressure is amazing and there is always hot water. There is even a dog wash just outside for your fur babies. The camp kitchen is stocked with basic pots and pans in case you have forgotten anything essential, but otherwise, it has two big sinks which are great for washing up, and boiling water is also readily available. The camp kitchen overlooks the spectacular beach views but it also has a good sized television and some toys for little ones.
The five star service rating is for the cleanliness of the park, but also their procedure for returning lost property. My husband left his phone in the bathroom and we thought it was lost. It was picked up and given to reception. Within an hour of losing it, the park had messaged all customers in the park informing them that a phone was in their possession.
My only critique (and this is mostly of you are staying in a big tent) is some of the tent campsites sloped on an awkward angle and could do with a little bit of levelling. Also, the ground is quiet hard in some places, so be prepared with good tent pegs and all the right equipment. Winds got up to 40km/h while we were here, and if some of our friends weren't able to secure their tents properly, this would have been the difference between a good stay and a miserable one. If you aren't a fan of camping under trees and you have a tent, then this caravan park is probably not for you, though we thoroughly enjoyed the shade they provided and the natural element they brought to the sites.
We had never been here before, but had heard and read so many great things about it. It certainly lived up to its reputation and we are already planning another...
Read moreThat camping it’s the worse one we ever stayed in Australia. Very disappointed. We got there the lady at the reception said we were the last ones to do the check in at that day. I thought okay it’s very full at that stage. When we saw the spot we couldn’t believe it. She gave us the worse spot at the grass camping area. We walked around and saw the empty camping so we went back to her to kind request the possibility to swap the spot. Even offer to pay more if was necessary. She was not so happy and told us to go around again and tell her the number that was empty so she would check. We told her the empty spot number and she said no sorry that’s booked. Well doesn’t make sense as we were the last ones getting there. Long story short she refused to change us to a decent spot. as we paid in advance we ended up staying anyway to don’t waste our money. We paid 70 dollars for A DAY total of 140 dollar for an old grass area for a tent. Joke at that stage. She said was better if someone staid for a week not only for 2 days. The place was empty Everyone who was there when we got there left next morning. We staid for 2 days and not even a mosquito did a new check in. We travelled for a month, that was the end of our trip and suppose to be the best spot but unfortunately she ruined completely our whole month. My partner spent the 2 days unbelievable with the situation as the camping was empty and we ended up on an old grass area with water coming in as we were at the hill. The beach in front it’s really not the best either, loads of rocks not good for surfing or fishing. The toilet was dirty. We didn’t feel safe as the whole camping is open and just on a roadside. Very dangerous to cross to buy some goods as you cannot really spot the cars coming on the hill. I would defo not recomende and would never ever go back again. Thanks lady to ruin our trip :/ If the camping was full was completely understandable but an empty whole...
Read moreMy family have been coming here for years in a large group every long weekend. This was our 2nd year in a row and unfortunately we won’t be back! The over priced cabins on beachfront are out dated. Our tiles were marked and looked dirty constantly, there was a hole in our bathroom door and it was difficult to open the sliding door each time we used it. ||||To top it off, at 3pm on Sunday we were approached by the manager regarding the noise from our cabin the night before. This was after we had rebooked for the following year…. The manager claims to have walked by and heard it for herself, however when asked why she didn’t address it at the time she said “it wasn’t that bad”. I take full responsibility for the loudness of our music and laughter, which was turned off at 11:30 when brought to our attention by a neighbour, however the way in which the manager dealt with it was completely unacceptable. To be threatened after they had already taken our money about having a “wee think about next years booking”, is not ok.||||Finally, the careful of the parking police ie park staff. We all know the rules about where we can and can’t park, however wont accept being chastised for having a car parked at our cabin in order to unpack and pack our cars!||||Perhaps the manager needs to seek first to understand in order to build relationships with her customers and then they wouldn’t have missed out on 5 x cabin rebooking the...
