Boonah Valley Motel — Hotel in Boonah

This is fast becoming a favourite place to stay. The rooms are big and beautiful with lots of extra touches. eg 6 towels in the room. Toast and microwave though we have not used them. It is very quiet and private with very big well equipped bathrooms. eg heater and lighting. The restaurant is a separate business but equally fabulous. You need to book both the rooms and the restaurant as it is very popular. The kitchen is open but very quiet and clean with happy smiling staff. The menu is to die for and both visits we opted for the steak and the pork belly. While we were waiting we were served an inhouse made danish sourdough bread with handmafe butter.The steak is one of the best I have ever had. (very big call). It is accompanied by a lobster tail and some glorious fresh vegetables etc. The pork belly is complimented with an apple and walnut salad. A sorbet between courses to cleanse the pallet which is sadly not served very often these days but beautifully presented. The wine list was interesting and the owner gave us a great rundown on the different choices which were from all over Australia and some imported choices as well. We opted for a bottle of red and a sparkling which were both new to us but would definitely have again. Excellent wines and reasonably priced. Overall the beautiful experience revisited. Bad timing, waking up to a construction site 2 days in a row. Right outside the unit doors. The management clearly did not care that this could be a disruption to our stay. We payed for two units and they just forgot about us. At a minimum some information would have been adequate, even some compensation??? The booking was made months in advance and management should have informed us at least on arrival. The office was unattended in the 2nd morning when we left so was unable to provide feedback then. I did raise it with a staff member on the first morning and was told by her she would pass my comment on to management. Heard nothing.... I do not recommend this place.

Terrible...

What can I say, this place is a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. It's unassuming but delivers everything you could want for. The chalets are clean, comfortable and fitted out with everything you need. We were there for a family wedding ceremony and we all had a meal in the restaurant the night before the wedding. Food was fantastic and service both friendly and excellent. The ceremony location is basic but absolutely lovely and you can decorate it how you want.
