we stayed at the Boydtown Beach caravan/camping ground. A pleasant enough place but in the process of a number of upgrades. Very nice Brand New Modern Family Cabins in a segregated fenced off area available with a price to match. Quite segregated. General Facilities in the caravan/tented areas ie. Showers, Toilets and Laundries obviously recently renovated and in very good condition. Three blocks located around the park but rubbish collection locations are in hard to find places. They are there, you just have to find them. Beaches are nice and close. Kids riding bikes everywhere and this can be an issue. Roads are shared with vehicles and vans and bikes so gravel grazes are quite common amongst the young riders, one thing to mention is that the toilet block closest to us had no facilities for the disabled and steps would need to be negotiated. Showers, toilets and laundry not at all equipped to handle people with disabilities. In this day and age it is just not good enough! In its favour, Boydtown has a huge history with a lot of it lost in time. All relating back to the arrival a Scottish Entrepreneur and Settler - Benjamin Boyd (hence the name) from the 1840's with Farming, Whaling, Banking and other ventures in his repertoire. The Seahorse Inn, just outside the entrance, is just a tiny part of it and of course his envolvement in Australian Politics was interesting. It is a place with a lot of history from its inception and if you are interested you can do your own research. It is worth it. I found it fascinating!
Not sure we'd stay there in particular again as there are many beautiful places to stay around the area but that would be...
Read moreWe stayed in the Sandpaper Cabin during early Janurary 2022, which was one of their new accomodation options at the time. We were very impressed with how spacious, modern and well equipped the cabin was. It had all the mod cons, including charging ports beside the night stands, a large flat screen tv mounted on the wall in the lounge room, and air-con - which was an absolute blessing during the 80-90% humidity days we were experiencing at the time! The patio included a family-size outdoor table and a large BBQ, which makes this place great for outdoor entertaining. The beds were remarkably comfortable. It is all a stones throw away from the beach, and the Sea Horse Inn which has a bar and great pub meals - we loved the pork belly and mignonette oysters. The grounds themselves are vast, lots of space to spread out and explore. We enjoyed visiting the beginnings of an animal farm they were collecting for the property, including the lamas, cows and baby goats. Staff were friendly and accommodating. We would definitely recommend this place for campers or people looking for a beachfront cabin in Eden. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, we will be back....
Read moreThis is my new ‘happy place’. 3 days camping on the beach, falling to sleep each night to the sound of the waves 50 metres or so away and waking to colourful sunrises and a walk on the beach. New amenities and camp kitchens add to the experience. If tents and caravans are not your thing, the luxury villas or tiny house are great alternatives.
The icing on the cake is the historic Seahorse Inn…a fabulous spot to sit under the verandah with a G&T or a cold beer while just looking at the bay.
Why cook at camp when the food at the restaurant is so good…come on, spoil yourself.
The customer service is exceptional.
My only whinge is that the camp kitchens are opened way too late in the morning (9am) for tent campers to make breakfast before heading out to explore…and there aren’t any plates/cutlery/pans/cups for backpackers/tent campers/motorcycle campers who cannot bring their...
