Our first impressions as we arrived for a our four night stay were very good. We had a family thing going and we arrived in time for drinks and dinner. We continued our evening upstairs in the little lounge and had a delightful time. The only thing I would add at this stage was that it would be so nice if the fireplaces were working (even with gas).
Our room was large, very comfortable and very clean. Some members of our party needed assistance getting bags upstairs and that was provided without fuss when asked.
We hung our brekky request on the door, and got a nice cooked breakfast, along with some other bits and pieces, the following morning. The service was fast and very friendly.
Our stay continued pretty much that way and almost all of the staff were delightful, with one exception...
Quick overview of that - there was a wedding on at the hotel and, on our return from dinner in town, we thought we might get a few bottles of wine and do the same as we had the first night with our family group (this being our second night). We walked in to the bar at 9.30pm. However the very rude guy at the bar, told us in no uncertain terms, that the bar was closed. We were a bit confused as wedding guests were clearly still having drinks. We let him know we were guests and got a very snarky "Ladies, the bar is CLOSED".
So then we all went separately to our rooms. Ours being RIGHT above the wedding, where we spent the next 2.5 hours listening to music and people having fun. It was just a really dumb and unnecessary situation. When I mentioned it to the team on leaving, everyone was SUPER apologetic, which is great. But that didn't help on the night. And I believe he's a bit of a repeat offender. Such a shame for the rest of the team.
To that guy - honestly - I've never seen SO little power go to somebody's head.
The Seahorse Inn - would be stay there again? Absolutely. The team really were great (except that guy) and it seems that some of the tougher feedback from reviews over the last 6 to 12 months has been taken on - as we felt the place was spotless and on point.
We had some really nice meals in the evening. One notable meal (which I had two nights running) was the pumpkin gnocchi which I believe was the creation of the apprentice chef - very nice work there.
Overall - the location is absolutely beautiful. We were down on the beach for a walk every day. The drive in to town is easy and lovely. Eden itself (remember, this is winter time) is a bit bland, but there are some spots worth heading to.
I loved staying there in winter, and I would not likely go there in summer so I imagine the vibe would be very different. But as a little winter escape it was lovely.
Where else did we go: Toast Cafe - awesome brekky and lunch. Absolutely give that a go. The Australasia - I wouldn't go there again, but I believe it's going to get a bit of attention in the near future. Wheelers in Pambula - went there randomly for lunch and it was awesome. The shoe shop in Eden - possibly a weird thing for a review, but I bought a really nice handbag there. The Whale Museum - go there, it's fascinating Boyd's tower - beautiful and interesting. DO NOT use the toilets they are infested with mosquitos. I mean INFESTED. And you have to pay for parking.
Thank you to all the awesome team members for a lovely time in a...

Despite opting/given for one of the smaller rooms, I was immediately struck by the neat and beautiful decor of the foyer/corridors and room that made the space feel both cozy and luxurious. While the location of the villas are nice facing the beach, it is not worth the ~$400 per night charged for a two bedroom self contained with a queen and 4 bunks.
Hospitality is lacking from front reception, we did not feel a warm welcome. The venue doesn’t make up beds on the top bunks and they are making serious cheap budget choices with their cleaners, we had to take out our rubbish bin so not to incur an additional cleaning charge with a notice m in the kitchen advising so. The top bunk fitted sheet was dirty and we weren’t given sheets needed to make up the room, however, they were quick to address this when notified. This element is given a 2 star rating.
The self contained villas require basics hospitality management, for a villa that sleeps 6, there are only 3 table spoons, an indoor table that sits 4 people, no soap dish in the bathroom. It doesn’t take much to make sure there is enough cutlery for people staying in the unit so we don’t have to eat breakfast with a teaspoon. I would give kitting out 3 stars.
Sleeping was okay, sheets are clean, blankets are warm, pillows average. It was good but not great, I’d give the bedding a 3 star rating.
Restaurant is great, the staff in this section are friendly and the food is delicious. The outside of the restaurant is really nice and I can see why people have weddings here. 5 stars for the restaurant :-)
It is disappointing the accommodation isn’t up to the same standard as the restaurant, I wouldn’t stay here again, it hasn’t left a good impression on us. Staying across the bridge in Eden is...
