The sculptured treehouse was a unique and adventurous experience to stay in. It's an artists paradise, in a scenic, natural lush forest setting 150 metres away in all directions from what feels like civilisation.. very private. Listening to the sounds of birds, rustling foliage and the running creek made mornings a very relaxing way to wake up. There are no windows to close, therefore you're open to the elements, which is exciting and another unique part of the experience. A shade cloth is available on all sides if you feel the need to use it... We didn't. The bed was extremely comfortable with the added benefit of a toilet on the same level as the main living area. The outdoor bathroom (with running hot & cold water shower) was a fun experience especially with the local bush turkeys metres from us who weren't bothered by our presence. We stayed 4 nights, yet I could have stayed longer. We cannot speak high enough of the owner's, Gaye and Leigh who were so welcoming and couldn't do enough for us to make our stay more comfortable - Thank You so much... we will be back!!! ||||Walking around the property on the specially made paths, to view sculptures in amongst the forest was nothing short of amazing... It's got to be seen to be believed. There's even a man made pool to dunk in within the running freshwater creek, with a sculptured table close by to relax with a few drinks We can guarantee you've not stayed anywhere in comparison to this property. ||||For those with mobility issues keep in mind that the main living area where the bed, kitchen, table, balconies and toilet are, is on the first level, while the bathroom and sculptured lounge are on the ground level. There's approx. 15 stairs to climb to the first level with a great sculptured handrail you can hold on to. ||||The property is a half hour walk from the beach and a wonderful boardwalk leading to an inlet home to a few local salt water crocs... Don't swim!! This is a mecca for bird-watchers. Also a short walk in the opposite direction is a natural spring creek where you can swim next door to a cafe selling a variety croc, emu and kangaroo burgers that were...
Read moreWe're a young family and stayed for 3 nights in the Tree house (hand built by the owner, Rob).
Upon arrival you appreciate the detail and effort Rob and his wife has put into this sanctuary over the past 25 years. From the breakfast bar to the sculptures (some hidden) this is also a mini golf course for the keen eyed.
All the mod cons nestled in the heart of the rain forest. There is hot water, gas stove and decent cookware which can cater for proper family size meals (not token bits of dodgy can opener and blunt knives you find in lots of self catering places). It was suprisngly to find freshly grounded coffee and a plunger in the waiting, something of a welcome sight to have creature comforts in amongst the canopy surrounded by wildlife such as the inquisitive Cassawory, and the playful Bandicoots (at night).
Sleep was nice and comfy, and despite the semi open air, there were no mossies or irritating insects when the lights were out. I'm a light sleeper and it was fine.
Sadly Rob is selling this place, so if you're those hands on sort of person who likes to build things, it's best to check this place out while he's still around. That tree house is one for the big kids as much as the little ones.
Edit. Please ignore reviews from idiots who expect the Tree house to have some sort of invisible force field to keep the critters out. You're in a rain forest, you will find the occasional insect in your Tree house in the jungle, something the Instagram types just can't seem...
Read moreThis is a unique place to experience the rainforest and get away from it all. The accommodation is really unique but has everything you need to make it comfy like a great bed, tea and coffee, hot showers and a small fridge in each room. ||Gaye and Lee are loving their new life onsite and are working hard to show off the uniqueness of this property which was made from hand and has so many fun and quirky statues onsite. They love a chat with guests and the opportunity to show off their piece of paradise.||My 13yo son wasn’t sure at first but when he met the owners and their dogs and realised he could get wifi on the reception couch he enjoyed it 😆||Walking around the property in the day and night are great experiences to appreciate all that’s there. ||During our stay we did a full day 4wd trip with a local, Kane, the zip lining and ocean safari snorkelling (always go in the morning for better weather). Stop in Mossman to get supplies at Woolies on the way up. Gaye will give you the tips when you book.||We actually stayed in 2 rooms onsite. The bungalow is smaller (but newer) and as a teenager and mum travelling, they kindly moved us to the larger room the next day which was also great. We looked at the treehouse too! That’s fun and a work of art in itself!||Thanks Gaye and Lee, we appreciated your warm welcome and James misses Allota already....
