Our short stay happened by chance as there was no dog friendly cabins available at the camp ground. But weren’t we lucky-what a find! Great setting with lovely green spaces and only a small number of units. The older style building has been tastefully renovated with a timber deck across the front which has been partitioned by timber privacy screens between the units to create a nice little outdoor space so lacking in motels. The unit was not huge but had everything needed and was very well cared for and clean. And beautiful artworks by the owner on the walls! A lovely outdoor communal area with kitchen and bar would make this a perfect venue for small groups. The basket of a delicious loaf of bread, spreads and fresh ground coffee in the fridge was a lovely touch. Great and friendly service by the owners. When I rang up to book Bec even offered to book a table for us at the pub for dinner (dog friendly deck-great food and sunset) so we didn’t have to worry later on and recommended the cafe for breakfast - both within a short stroll of the place. Overall the place has a lovely and welcoming vibe which makes me want to go back again! And I have already recommended to...

Beautiful garden setting with friendly and attentive hosts, Rebecca and Jeff, who went out of their way to be helpful. We stayed in the Tiny House, which was thoughtfully appointed and very functional. Sitting outside on an unusually cold weekend in February was OK, as the deck was covered and private and out of the wind. Location was excellent - a short walk to the Bait and Tackle shop’s cafe, as well as the famous pub. Walks along the river front were just a short walk away. Lovely view from the bed, with cows our only neighbours! The bed was amazingly comfortable. If you are a couple that is not very agile, you may find it difficult to climb out of the bed if you are the one sleeping next to the window, since the bed is hard up against the window. In our 70’s, we didn’t find this too difficult, however. We appreciated the loaf of fresh sourdough bread and accompaniments too. The outdoor facilities were excellent and we can imagine that this would be a great place to stay at if you are a group. We stopped 2 nights and would highly recommend this...

The rooms are spacious a plenty with great care to detail (jeff does the paintings himself!) Location is great with the beaches just down the road and a great restaurant recommended by Jeff and Bec, the Marlo Hotel. I would give 6 stars for service but I have to limit myself to 5, that's why I've given the room 5 instead of 4 stars, they can get a bit cold because the heating doesn't stay but I found out the windows were all slightly ajar so it might've caused that. I have to take a moment to go on a rant, so if you do not care about plumbing do not read further but...:

The plumbing was so good!!! I'm not a plumber and I don't know anything about plumbing but the satisfaction I felt when the taps would turn a millimeter and an equal amount of water would pour is undervalued, immediate reaction to will and it isn't then too strong a flow. It simply flows how you want it to from the get go, then if you close the tap it stops without issue, no drip or anything!

I'm sorry if I got carried away but it is a...

A cozy hideaway at great price and a stones throw from Marlo Hotel. My partner, myself and our dog stayed for one night on 11 December and were pleasantly surprised to check in to a clean, comfy and cozy cabin-style unit with all amenities you could need for an extended stay (including a loaf of bread and coffee/milk for breakfast in the morning). We really appreciate how Marlo Hideaway is pet friendly (it is hard to find good pet-friendly accommodation); how clean the place is; the view out the field out the window and other small details (e.g plenty of wall hooks etc) that made our stay convenient and comfortable. The only thing that would have made it better was a firmer mattress but that’s just personal preference). We even forgot to bring our toothpaste with us and the hosts Jeff and Bec were kind and hospitable enough to give us theirs to use. Thank you Marlo Hideaway ! We will definitely come back, if we are in the area again!

We could not have been more impressed with our stay. From booking to leaving. We were welcomed by both Bec and Jeff and taken through all the information we needed to know about our stay plus recommendations for local places to eat which was much appreciated after a long day on the road. We stayed in the Marlo Hideaway room. The room is private, has amazing views of beautiful paddocks with the added extra of little horse visitors for a pat. We loved the added extras like the loaf of sourdough bread and condiments, the room is really spacious and comfortable, the shower is big and has great water pressure, the coffee is amazing, very clean all round and honestly it had everything we needed and would highly recommend for couples wanting a getaway.

What a contrast the tiny house at Marlo Hideaway was to the generic hotel accommodation that we also experienced on our road trip from Melbourne to Brisbane. The unique setting within the beautiful countryside of the Snowy River estuary. Looking out on grazing horses and cattle by age-old gum trees. Carefully and thoughtfully designed space. Tasteful and calming decor. Unique craftsmanship and art. It is all such a credit to Jeff and Rebecca and the obvious care factor that they have in their wonderful little accommodation space. The experience was enhanced by an hour spent watching the sun go down over the estuary with the pelicans and other local bird life. We highly recommend Marlo Hideaway as a peaceful retreat for anyone visiting East Gippsland.
