We arrived late afternoon and asked if there was availability. We asked to see the room and the lady began to laugh loudly followed by "why do you want to see the room first" I explained that we wished to check it was suitable, was the bed hard etc. . It all seemed to go downhill from there. She showed us the room and when I asked if there was Sky reception as we do in New Zealand she did not appear to know what I was asking. However she showed us the TV channels. I could not see any evidence of tea and coffee facilities (they were in a drawer) so I asked if there was. The lady said she was offended that I was asking these questions! I said it was common to ask to see the room and the reply we got was "not around here!" ||Now, until a year ago, we owned a popular resort and restaurant in Samoa for 20 years. We are fully acquainted with the needs of guests and we are more than happy to explain the facilities to guests and allow them to check out the accommodation. We personally take the guests to their accommodation. We had not seen the website for Mary River Motor Inn as we had been driving all day so we had called in "cold" . We were very surprised to receive a reception such as this, therefore, I did not want to stay but as we were very tired after a long drive, my husband said we would. The facilities were good and we have no problem with the room. It would have been more friendly and welcoming not to be laughed at and questioned. Customer service in every way is important. I would give this Motor inn more stars but in view of the unfriendly...
Read moreFirstly having read the reviews we were concerned about the receptionist but they must have a new lady as the lady we dealt with was absolutely lovely.|The rooms are great, very clean and modern, despite being on the main road they must be well sound proofed as we didnt hear a sound all night. Bed is a king size so that was nice as well. Lovely modern bathroom, and a small outside seating area.|The only negative was no Microwave, not even a toaster, in many years of travel this would be the first time we have found a motel with no toaster. The only crockery are cups and glasses, so if you plan to get take a way, take your own crockery and cutlery with you. Also milk is the UHT, so no fresh milk.|There is a restaurant on site we didnt eat there though, so i guess that explains why no crockery or microwave. Still a nice...
Read moreTravelling through with work. Owner was nice, however asked if I had any children, I said yes, one. I was asked if they were under 8, I said no, but asked why, to be told that children under 8 are not allowed to stay, owner mentioned that she maybe increasing this to 12 years of age, no reason besides the fact she doesn’t like children staying because they whine/whinge. Yet there are units that back onto the motel, where on arrival a lady was losing her mind, yelling, screaming, swearing. Best to avoid if you have children travelling with you. Room smelled musky/damp, features mildy outdated. Bed was comfortable. There is a minibar available. Heard some traffic noise throughout the night, but with new bypass open wasn’t too noticeable. Would recommend to couples/solo travellers, but not to those travelling...
