We have arrived on Christmas Eve at 6.30pm and we have found our key card on the letter box. When we arrived on our spot, we have found someone else on our place, discovering that half of our space that was already busy from another roulotte, connected to the power, OUR power! They kindly asked if it was OK to share, but the management should have already checked and should advised us. Anyway, we decided to have a shower before dinner with the surprise that the men ones was out of order and the women was full of personal things like razors, shampoo, shower gel etc. Absolutely dirty, bad odor and disgusting even to wash my hands. But it's ok, it's Christmas Eve. We cooked, we enjoyed and the night went good. The morning after we were playing with our dogs, maybe a bit rough, but we got two Rottweilers so it's normal for us. They are guardian dogs and as for their breed they protect us and the territory where they are. Unfortunately the management of the camping couldn't understand us, that said : " keep the dogs on a short leash as they are kind of vicious, it will be a shame to see their names on the newspaper". We just shut up and try to untied them. After couple of minutes one dog walked trough and they barked. The manager came back saying again the same things, but unfortunately for him I wasn't that nice. He even had the courage to say "put your dogs inside the car".

It will never happen again that we are to came back in this camping, just for a person, that apparently was part of the management, as he said.

I would like to remind them saying that PET ARE WELCOME. If you are afraid to have breeds like Rottweiler, please specify that in your websites so next time I can spend my 94 dollars somewhere else, with my dogs not in the car or tied up on a...

We stayed this week with kids (Jan 2021) and absolutely loved the dam and were very happy with the park facilities.

We had a non powered site in Karrack with gorgeous views and there was a BBQ area and 2 unisex drop toilets nearby. The sites have a cleared sand area for your tent, a wooden table with benches and a campfire area. No fires allowed of course and we were glad to see the sign reminding of the total fire ban at the boom gate.

Down from Karrack there is a wire fence which defines the rock drop off to the dam which I found reassuring with our kids. Wooden steps lead down to the water which is very deep.

If you come with small kids I think swimming on the boat ramp/kiosk side is a safer idea as there is more of a slope than a drop off. We found although our kids are good swimmers you do get some waves from the boats and skis so we prefered it there.

Although the boats do start fairly early we found the camp very relaxing and quiet. Dogs are kept on lead and we were surprised to find we didn't hear any barking.

Near the kiosk and cabins there is an awesome playground and park exercise equipment which we all enjoyed.

We were also given a bag to collect cans and bottles at camp. The park donates the money raised to the local fire brigade which is such a great idea.

People have mentioned that there is water next to the toilets and bbq area but we found it easier to bring our own with a tap.

The drop toilets might put some people off but they're not really that big a deal. They've got a good set up and replace the cleaning chemical often and keep them clean. If people follow the instructions to use properly they don't smell.

We will definitely return to camp...

The setting of this place is beautiful, the park staff were friendly and helpful and accommodated us moving from the tent only zone (no power, no water) to another site (Quokkaa) after the one chosen wouldn't fit our set up.

HOWEVER, the park was let down by some of the other people onsite.

It states quiet time is 10pm and unfortunately due to the noise that we could hear from other areas of the park (not in Quokkaa) and the constant sirens we could hear in the distance, we ended up packing up and leaving at 2am on the first night. We thus lost out on our stay and also lost out on the deposit paid for the key card which we could not return because the office was obviously closed.

We are only in our 40s and we certainly do not mind other people enjoying themselves because we ourselves love to enjoy ourselves but when its 2am and there are still people full on partying at the other side of the campsite literally a matter of feet from the office and they aren't being told to be quiet, it's pretty annoying. On our road out of the campsite, we encountered the cops and an ambulance who had pulled over some young guy who was driving a 4x4 and trailing a boat so that will account for the sirens we heard.

Another downside is having to book for a minimum of two nights.

All in all, lovely campsite, lovely staff, good facilities, beautiful scenery but let down by the people who they allow to spend time on the sites who go unchecked throughout the night but I suppose the people frequenting the dam are young kids with boats and skis so not...

Absolutely beautiful!! The stars were so pretty at night, almost no need to go somewhere specific to watch stars. If you go here, bring your dog/s, they’ll love it too. The fresh air and breeze is good for animals and humans. I also recommend lighting a fire if you don’t go during the fire-risk season. Its really cold, so i would recommend bringing some padded clothing, or thick blankets. On the way back home, the fog may be disastrous, as you cannot see anything and have to go 50km/h or lower. Make sure you put your full headlights on and watch out for kangaroos, or other animals, as they are attracted to light. The dam is beautiful, do go for a swim if you can, if not, try some fishing. The kitchen was a bit of a disappointment, as there was only one microwave, and a lot of people were using it. You can also hire table tennis, basketball, and cricket gear for free. The atmosphere is amazing, but a lot of campers who weren’t even near us were making noise like they were the only people there. They were shouting, screaming, yelling and popping full balloons, which ripped through the campgrounds and woke everyone up. I wish the staff had done more about it, as dogs were getting scared, and people couldnt sleep. There were also fireworks above the dam yesterday, which was a good addition to out short trip. Overall, a great experience and i would recommend.
