This is a really beautiful place and I instantly loved the chalets. However we visited in the middle of winter and the group I was with used 3 chalets and were there for 5 nights, we paid plenty. We were provided with one of those half-keg containers of wood, which lasted one night because it was so cold and windy and wet. Mel at the office was aghast when we asked for more wood, saying that was supposed to last the entire 5 days and that if we wanted more wood we'd have to purchase bags of wood at $20 a pop. She questioned how we could have used up so much wood so quickly, ignoring then acknowledging that it was the middle of winter and it had done nothing but rain the entire time. I explained that the fire, even set at its lowest, was burning the wood really fast. She relented reluctantly and gave us another box of wood but then lectured me on how to put the wood into the firebox, and told us (on the second of our 5 days) that's all that we're getting. As a consequence of that we put the air con on 24 hours a day alongside the fire because it was so cold. (the cottages are not insulated). The hot water system was also set so low that we didn't need to turn on the cold tap at all, leaving us having almost lukewarm temperature showers. It was really inadequate but she told us how to turn on the taps and said that she'd adjusted it but it still made having a spa bath impossible. The next day we went out on a winery tour, but one of my fellow guests was unwell and stayed behind. During the day Mel went to enter our unit without our knowledge and without our permission, until she realised one of us was still there, even saying she thought we'd all be out. This is totally unacceptable on every level and our trust and our rights could have been violated by her doing that and we would have been none the wiser. Until our shortage of wood issue and the water issue, then the enter-without-permission I had been thinking how much I'd like to come back but now is the total opposite. So many nice things about this place but it was totally disappointing to have this attitude then violation of trust when these things are just part of running a small business and about making people want...
Read moreThe chalet was ideal for viewing the Margaret River area (not to be missed).|Set in lovely surroundings with lots of space between chalets giving a roomy feel.|Inside the chalets was huge and open planned, big kitchen well equipped and comfy lounge with big tv. A veranda overlooking the lake with chairs and table.|Good size bedroom bathroom, separate loo and a laundry room with free washing machine. |Parking next to the chalet amongst the shade of the trees.|Self check in, but Mel (owner) popped in to see all was well.|The only down side (being picky) is there is some traffic noise from the nearby main road especially in the evening, road not visible from the chalet.|10 minutes into well equipped town with lots of bars, restaurants and cafes plus shops of course.|PS you will get a visit from the ducks looking...
Read moreThis is the second year in a row that we have stayed in this wonderful location. It is now under new management and they are a lovely couple who were more than happy to have a chat and make sure everything was perfect for our stay. They are improving the area every day and have some wonderful new ideas that will make your stay even more enjoyable! The location is amazing and is only a $12 taxi fare from Margaret River and short drives to all major wineries, breweries and beaches. We did take photos but they are exactly the same as the website. What you see is definitely what you get.The internet has improved dramatically since we stayed last year, with no drop outs and very good speed for the location. I have no problems in recommending people to stay here and enjoy everything that is...
