We camped here for a week in Jan. All campsites are close to the beach and have their own picnic table and often bbq or firepit (however fire ban due to drought/bushfires). Toilets are longdrops and pretty smelly as compared to others i have experienced. No showers so either swim daily or BYO. Drinking water is provided at the road turn off to get into the park 2km from camp site so bringing some bottles etc is useful. Mostly level ish campsite ie no hillside but some so slope. There are a variety to choose from in shape, size and type for 2 person tents to large campervan/caravan setups. The beach is sandy and long with shallow surf although rough and choppy during our stay. Waves in 3 directions, dumping, lots of sand and seaweed in the water. Closer in to shore was great for kids but if you want to body surf or surf board there are better beaches. Still... I caught a few good waves. There are also lots of walks up and down the coast to do. Every headland has some kind of walk and most have towns on them you can stop and visit as well.

Discover the Charm of Illaroo Campground Nestled along the unspoiled sands of Sandon Beach in the breathtaking Yuraygir National Park, Illaroo Campground is a coastal retreat that invites you to slow down and soak in nature’s beauty. Shaded by native trees and accessible via sealed, all-weather roads, it’s the perfect getaway for campers seeking tranquility and natural wonders. Explore the surrounding bushland teeming with local flora and fauna, or take a leisurely 1 km stroll or drive to the charming Mini Waters General Store. There, you’ll find everything from delicious homemade pies and sausage rolls to freshly brewed coffee—ideal for refueling after a morning beach walk. Most campsites feature their own firepit, and free gas BBQs are available for communal use. While there are no showers or powered sites, fresh drinking water is provided for your convenience. Whether you're falling asleep to the sound of the waves or gathering around a campfire under the stars, it's almost impossible not to fall in love with Illaroo Campground.

Very well maintained. Dave the manager was super helpful, friendly & welcoming. Toilets obviously are cleaned regularly because they smelt and looked nice & clean. We stayed for a couple of nights in our camp trailer on site 45, which we loved!! Very spacious, sheltered from the wind & got lots of sun (which was great for the solar panels), has a fire pit (byo wood) and was close to the toilets too. Just a 1min walk to the beach. Wish we had of stayed longer, will definitely be back!! ❤️

We had such a lovely time here over the Australia Day long weekend but now have discovered that some low life entered our camper while we were at the beach and stole our laptop that was hidden in a draw. This has left a very sour taste in our mouth. It is camping code to not enter other camp sites unless invited and you most certainly do not enter their tent/caravan/camper etc. If you were camping there over the long weekend and saw anyone acting suspiciously around a camper that was set up near the toilet facilities in the North Camp area or if you have found someone in your group stole our laptop we would like...
