I thought it would be cheaper given we had to share the room with cockroaches and they seemed to not clean it. The mold in the aircon was a nice touch, really gave the room a nice aroma.

I can’t speak highly enough about my experience at Blue Wren Lodge Waratah! My kids and I were transitioning from one accommodation to another and I reached out to the Guest Services Team to ask if we could check in earlier than the standard 3 PM time. Without hesitation, they responded with clear instructions for an online check-in. Within 15 minutes, I received an SMS guiding me through the seamless transition into our accommodation.

Not only was the process smooth and efficient, but the team also didn’t ask for any early check-in fees, which was an absolute blessing. Their kindness and efficiency allowed my kids and me to escape the heat and settle into a peaceful, quiet and accommodating retreat.

After everything my kids and I have been through, I decided to take them away from the toxicity in Sydney and this was the perfect place for us to have time for ourselves, to breathe and to just be together. The lodge provided the comfort and peace we desperately needed.

A huge thank you to the Guest Services Team for their exceptional hospitality. Their understanding and generosity made a world of difference for my family. If you’re looking for a place with outstanding customer service and a tranquil atmosphere, I highly recommend Blue Wren...

Originally I was going to give a higher star review even though the walls and floors are so thin that after 10pm you can clearly hear the washing machine down the other end of the building still being used, the bloke who had late stage consumption coughing, the chainsaw snoring down the hall, and every footstep of the person above you. Yes, they would have got a few stars even though in addition to those things at 3 am on multiple nights I was sharply awakened by a random alarm somewhere in the building. While annoying and obviously cheaply constructed that's why I travel with earplugs! But no, this place is getting one star because when I spoke with the owner about the strong and pervasive mold/mildew smell throughout my room that would not go away despite me trying to air it out he accused me of wanting a refund without trying to solve the problem in any way at all first. I simply wanted a room that didn't stink to sleep in during my business trip and management that would actually listen to my problem and help solve it instead of throwing accusations around with absolutely no apology at all for their aggressive presumption. Incredibly poor form. Definately not...

Excellent value for money. When we booked the Blue Wren Lodge for our stay in Newcastle I assumed it would be relatively basic. When we arrived, we were very pleasantly surprised. The placed was tastefully decorated with nice artworks and colour schemes. There are free laundry facilities, pod coffee, fully equipped common kitchen (with nice cuttlery, plates, bowls, drinking and wine glasses), dishwashers, ice machine, water filters for drinking water, common big lounge area and modern lighting. The bedrooms had a fridge, drink making facilities, large TV, air-conditioning, large comfortable bed and an adequate ensuite. We were also fortunate to have friendly and very considerate other guest staying at the same time. Will definitely stay here again. Well done Stephen and Dean for running such a...
