TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

ATTENTION: 1. Big 4 Holiday Parks Acclaim Holiday Parks

I am a Big 4 Member, I know this, because I have paid the $50 to be awarded the privilege. To my knowledge, paying membership to a Caravan Park Group is a feature that only Big 4 own. My wife and I have travelled to many parts of our magnificent country, therefore visiting many varied parks along the way. On Friday 23rd of June, 2023 at 12.39pm, whilst leaving ‘Wave Rock’, WA, I pre booked a one night stay at Big 4 Kalgoorlie for 24th June 2023, paid by credit card, with intention to extend. On Saturday 24th of June, 2023 we arrived at Big 4 (Acclaim) Kalgoorlie. As with most parks I have visited, I pulled into the driveway with my 24’ van. Not long after, a lady came out of the office and rather abruptly told me not to ‘block the driveway’ and move down. ‘Fair call’, I thought, and moved down the driveway to clear the entrance. Having parked, I attended the office to book in. To my astonishment, I was immediately given a dressing down lecture as to why I hadn’t stopped out on the roadway as instructed by the sign. I need to emphasise that this was abrupt, unexpected, impersonal, and rude. My response was, ‘I think I might go somewhere else’, Reply: ‘Go for it’. At this point of time this lady did not know who I was, was unaware as to our booking status, and was obviously more interested in delivering her message than dealing with a customer. Now, let’s take a step back and remind ourselves, ‘I have paid $50 membership’ to be on the receiving end of this! ‘U’ turning to leave that park, I noticed it was less that 50% full, the said sign was elevated. So here’s a KPI for you. We were unable to get a site anywhere else in Kalgoorlie, the 72-hour park was full. We then drove the 2 hours further to Norseman. Now there’s an indicator! Obviously, I am not privy to Big 4 and Acclaim’s HR Policy, and they can deal with their representatives as they see fit. However, as the Managing Director of a Civil Construction Company in South Australia, any employee who behaved in this manner would be missing in action very soon thereafter. Please check my membership, you will see that the payment for the site has not been used. I am not seeking a refund and would prefer that you spend it on a short course in human relations in Kalgoorlie. Once my membership in Big 4 has expired, IT WILL NOT BE RENEWED. For that I thankyou for encouraging me to ‘Free Camp’. Now as a Web Based Business, Big 4 has no real risk, it doesn’t own anything. To that I say, I shall be exercising my rights as a consumer and copying this into your reviews. Without...

The old lady that managers the property is rude and unhelpful.

The park itself is extremely old and run down, I can’t believe Big 4 have allowed their name to be associated with this park. The amenities is extremely outdated with timber rot in each shower cubicle, always closed first thing in the morning when everyone’s wanting to shower. The men’s showers flood which is extremely unhygienic

There’s only one dump point for the entire property which I suspect is illegal and doesn’t comply with WA council regulations as it’s just a hole in the ground with a piece of timber over the top

Limited washing machines and dryers which are also extremely old and do not wash your clothes properly. The dryer took 60mins and clothes still not dry. Had to go to town to use laundry mat.

The older lady at front desk charges everyone different rates. We stayed exact same dates as another couple who had one extra child than I did and her daily rate was $55 and mine was $77. You’re better off staying at the free camp down the road.

Because the park is all gravel and dirt when it rains it becomes a massive mud puddle

Constant water outages without any notice for patrons to prepare

Lots of confusion about sites and boundary’s as not very well marked out

Overall the owners need to find a new park manager and spend some money revamping the park or sell it so...

Travelling from Victoria through Western Australia we found the Kalgoorlie Acclaim Prospector Caravan Park to be the worst and most expensive park we unfortunately stayed at.||The shower and toilet facilities are absolutely terrible/ dilapidated and need to be demolished and rebuilt. The water was not draining from the shower and even with a very quick shower I had water backing up to my ankles.||The power and water supply for the van was located quite a distance from our site and we had to move sites to reach the tap.||Laundry facilities are not great either, some machines operate on “Token only” some on $2 coins, and some on $1 coins. We could not get any tokens on the afternoon we arrived as reception closed at 3pm which meant everyone was using the one and only coin operational washing machine.||The rubbish bins were absolutely full all weekend until Monday||The staff were not very friendly or helpful and the manager comes across as a smart arse.||This caravan park should not be included in the Big 4 parks.||We definitely would not...

Manager needs to be flexible when booking arrangements go awry. Ladies shower and toilet block need tending to. Peeling paint and mouldy ceilings. Hot water is a concern as it could seriously scold the young and elderly. After being told park was fully booked and they could not give us the site we required i noted said park was empty and was for the duration of our stay. Photo's supplied. And when contacting the website i got the usual thankyou for your feedback and no follow up. Has not even acknowledge photo's i supplied to the email i sent. Sad to say i shall not return to this park any time soon 😔

Extremely difficult to reverse onto the site due to the close proximity of permanent vans on the other side of the narrow road. Seems the more accessible sites were "out of order ". Not sure what that means. They decided to renovate the men's amenities and use an ablution trailer! Absolutely no consideration given to people with mobility issues! The laundry has this mix of token machines and coin! Why not just have pay wave? The dump point is as far away as you could put it! Had to drive there. It's not even a proper dump point. It's an ordinary park at best.
