Celestial Dew offers a beautiful house with a massive verandah at the front, with large chairs to curl up in and relax. It overlooks a lawn, and with surrounding hills, makes for what could be a very peaceful stay. The rooms are beautifully decorated, and the linen is as fine quality as promised, and sufficient amenities to do some basic cooking. Being a very small town, Flutterbies (on the same property) offers just about the only restaurant option in the area. But luckily it offers a wide, varied menu, and a great ambience - with all sort of different areas (a bar, live music section, tables nestled in the garden) - which surprisingly can be just as appealing in the evening as during the day. If you don't feel like cooking for the weekend, you can definitely get away with eating there for your meals.||||Unfortunately the downside for this particular stay was the breakdown in communication that happened in the booking process. It seemed the B&B was in the process of changing management, which resulted in us arriving to a few surprises. While we originally believed we had booked the whole house, we were told on arrival that we would have someone staying with us in the 4th room. As it turned out, for a number of reasons, this wasn't a problem, but it was extremely disappointing given that we had specifically chosen to book out an entire house. We were also told on arrival that there would be a long table lunch on the Saturday morning, to be hosted on the front lawn of the property. The lawn is directly in front of the house. Setting up for this event started at 7 AM. When we returned from a walk, we discovered lunch guests enjoying some drinks and cigarettes on the verandah (and one trying to come in to use the bathroom!), leaving us to sit inside for the afternoon. This was an unusual situation, so can be overlooked, but bear in mind when you book that a town market is said to take place on the lawn each Saturday from 9 - 3 (approx.), with the requisite setting up beforehand.||||We then woke up at 6 AM on the Sunday to more commotion, which turned out to be a major racing event being set up on the main road outside the B&B. By 7 AM this was in full swing, with music being played on the loudspeakers and full festivities. Our dreams of a quiet weekend in the country were somewhat shattered by this point. ||||To reiterate, this was an usual set of events, and wouldn't happen on the average weekend, albeit extremely disappointing for us. When we mentioned these problems, we received an apology and a discount, which we appreciated, and take as a sign of the usual service of the staff. To any future guests, just ensure that all details of your stay are double-checked, that you have communication in writing, and bear in mind that this B&B is in the heart of a small town and could well be hosting all sorts of other things while you're there (which may be a good/bad thing, depending on what...
Read moreWe overnighted at Celestial Dew Tyalgum in order to stay over after seeing a show at the town hall. It's a four bedroom (I think 2 doubles, 1 twin and one single) venue with 2 shared bathrooms and a comfy lounge area with large couches, DVDs, magazines etc. Rooms are sparcely furnished but functional although we could not open the second door of our wardrobe. A small electric heater was provided. Beds were very comfortable and the only downside was that the two windows had cotton curtains which didn't keep the early sun out the next morning. (Maybe people staying in the country like to get up super early?) The house is next door to a spa where you collect the key - one of the managers met us and showed us around - all very friendly. It's also very close to a large and well run café for meals. All in all, a comfortable place to...
Read moreWell maintained and restored house. I was greeted with a smile and hosts were helpful in explaining details of the house. Even took my bag for me. Bedroom was clean and linen and complimentary soap/shampoo was provided as well as bathrobes. Bed comfortable and there was a little fan heater available for use, which was appreciated since I had just arrived from a tropical climate. WIFI available only on the balcony as it doesn't reach the rooms. No cell reception here for Vodafone. Sauna also available. Shower and toilet clean and shared. Could hear other guests in the other bathroom very clearly. Overall I appreciated the comfortable, convenient and secure diggs to sleep in overnight after coming home from a farm wedding. Nice little cafe next door. Would stay there again if I just needed a place to crash...
