Left Within Minutes – Do Not Book the Blue Whale Motor Inn
I booked into the Blue Whale Motor Inn in Warrnambool, walked into the room... and walked straight back out. That was enough. The room was unclean, the carpet sticky, the air reeking of cheap air freshener trying (and failing) to cover something worse. The bed looked like it had been made by a toddler, and the curtains didn’t even match across the room.
Add to that the constant road noise, and it was clear this was not a place where anyone should expect rest, comfort, or even basic hygiene.
What really gets me is the price – $150 for a room that isn’t fit for purpose. For that same money, I found another local hotel nearby that actually understood the basics: cleanliness, quiet, professionalism, and customer service.
The reception was also telling — no local maps, no information, just a hollow, soulless front desk that mirrors the whole experience. And the manager? Rude, defensive, and completely unwilling to engage. Let’s just say hospitality is not in his skill set. The man has the energy of a bad hair transplant and the charm of a traffic fine.
I didn’t stay the night — I couldn’t. I left and considered the $150 a payment to escape a grim experience. My advice? Don’t become a victim. There are better, cleaner, and friendlier places in Warrnambool. This isn’t one of them.
If you insist on staying do not pay for the room until an...

Read moreDon't waste your money by staying in this Motel. The Owner is a nasty person who can't understand English properly. He lacks sympathy, empathy and manners. I unfortunately developed Covid there & I can assure you that my Doona, blanket & pillows where not changed, not dry cleaned or even washed before the new guest came into my room. I would of thought ( like other hotels/ motels) that all linen was taken away for cleaning. It is too easy to infect others by not changing the linen, pillows. I apologise to anyone if you develop Covid. Owner is a bully & all he cares about is big $$$'s. Yes, we all like to make money, but when it is at the detriment of other guests, one must question his standards. The cleaning staff are lovely, he does have the minimum staff, he isn't paying 1 man the correct wages, that says a lot about this horrible Owner. I would certainly go elsewhere to stay while holidaying or working in...
