"Honeymoon Pool Camping Area & Surrounding Walk Trails" Absolutely beautiful natural spot far enough away from the usual Murray River Lane Pool Reserve camping nightmares! We often camp at this little gem of a natural place on the way down to the South West. Loved the DEC voluntary campsite dude! Did the walk up one side of the river to the kiosk for a fantastic brunch and then back down the other side. A pretty exhausting 12.5km walk, but very rewarding. Great range of camping areas, walks, swimming spots, clean facilities, clean toilets, and efficient BBQ's (of course this is what you are paying for with the camping fee!) Great place to bring family and kids to get them off their 'electronic addictions' and into the wild natural outdoors.
Please Note: The weather can get really hot here in Summer, often with no breeze to cool you down on the walks. So too can the tempers of the psychopaths & narcissistic anti-social campers who want to play LOUD thrash metal music through the twilight hours & into the wee hours of the morning! If your group wants to actually sleep here, we recommend you avoid the main camping area, and wander round a bit further to the small groups camping spots. Otherwise, besides the psychos, a fantastic little camping spot for a bush walk and a dip (if it's not too crowded)! by...
Read moreThe campsite itself is beautiful and awesome for the family, you can see that from most other reviews. But I am just going to rate my experience here. We went here in peak time, booked months ahead and got one of the last campsites. Almost every single day, we had day-trippers asking to park in our carpark. During our stay a French tourist couple set up a tent in our car park and refused to move, and we almost came to blows. The parks dept was unwilling to help. We observed other people setting up camp without a booking, one of which was a group of guys who started flying a (noisy) drone around at 7am the next morning. A group of people two sites away from us ran a (also noisy) generator from 8am in the morning till evening time. Later in our stay, which was around new years, the pools got absolutely FLOODED with day trippers, cars and people everywhere. We also had some of our property stolen. I will be extremely hesitant to come back here, except maybe...
Read moreFor a huge State like WA unfortunately there are very few spots like this available to the public. Why is that? Because caravan park owners regularly grease the palms of local councilors not to develop their facilities. And those spots that are available like Honeymoon Pools are so tiny. Just try getting a place on a long weekend or during the school holidays in any good spot in the South West, It's almost mission impossible. And the alternative is to packed in like a sardine among screaming kids at one of the overcrowded and over charging caravan parks. The lack of good free camping and low cost camping sites in the scenic south west of WA is a State scandal that needs to be...
