There are free parking spaces available in front of the guest house. Getting into the house was easy, we found the key in a small locker. The building is located in a peaceful, quiet area. It is a spacious accommodation with a great public room with cold drinks in the fridge, delicious biscuits and hot coffee on the table, along with local brochures with various programs. The well-kept garden is stunningly beautiful with lots of flowers. The dining room is sunny and cozy, the breakfast is fresh and excellent. The rooms and the entire guest house are perfectly clean, the bed is comfortable, the bathroom is huge and has a window as well. The souls of the guest house are three nice ladies who are always smiling and are communicative and extremely helpful. The neighbourhood is surrounded by beautiful greenery. Althofen is a friendly little town with good dining options, wonderful historical sights, close to Sankt Veit an der Glan, Klagenfurt (Reptilienzoo Happ is highly recommended to visit) and the Wörthersee. I lived here from July until the end of December. Birgit is an incredibly gracious, kind, and generous host. The entire bed and breakfast is exceedingly well run, the rooms are clean, comfortable, and spacious. Breakfast is full of local fruits, vegetables, cured meats, and fresh pastries with as much espresso as you could want. If you are looking for things to do in Carinthia, Birgit is very knowledgeable about the local activities and excursions and will be happy to help you map out your weekend. ||||In short, for the 6 months I stayed here, me and every other guest I met, was treated like family, and it was a fantastic experience.
