We stayed 2 nights at Georgi Schloessl while hiking around in the region. The hotel is on top of a little hill just a few 100m from the town center, so located conveniently for the short hike to town. Location is very nice with ample parking space, just a bit spoiled by some rather ugly 60´s and 70´s buildings (appartments and school) around it.||||Accomodation is all very new and clearly recently modernised. Everything was very clean, beds and matrasses were great, bathroom had a toilet + small shower + sink. ||||The downstairs kitchen area - which you can see when going to the breakfast room - shows a recently built modern kitchen with all amenities.Rooms are rather small for the size of the building, yet have all normal comfort expected, yet again without any delighters.||The Georgi Schloessl has only 7 habitations: 2 rooms for 2p, 3 appartments for 3p and 2 separate larger rooms. ||Breakfast was fair quality, and again we would have expected a bit more: staff was very friendly but clearly overwhelmed by the number of visitors. So how can that be with just 7 rooms? We learned that the same owner also has more rooms and appartments downtown (in total 24) and all these people can come for breakfast at the main building. So be aware that if you don´t book the main building you might have to walk 10min uphill for breakfast...and if you´re in the main building, you will not be alone for breakfast but might be facing a buffet with many missing items.||The Schloessl has nice bar area on the 2nd floor with terrace. Drinks are available as a "honesty bar"; as the owners make their own wine, you´ll get all wine bottles at a moderate 12€/bottle in self service while soft drinks and water are free.||||So, why do I say that I missed some delighters?||Overall you pay the standard price for a nice hotel in Austria, but in the surroundings there are so many very nice B&B where you can stay with local wine farmers at 1/3 this cost.||The breakfast was another small disappointment (see above). And then other small things like the bathroom, where of course all is nice and new, but while being 2 in the room it´s just 1 sink, and soap is not a nice shower gel + shampoo + lotion... but just some very small one fits all "body and hair wash". Sure, I can do with that, but at the cost of the hotel I also expect more.||We stayed during the wine fest season, and again I´d expect a hotel to provide some touristic information on the events in town, and to have some folders with e.g. hiking tours around, or bistros in town...none of that is present. If you ask, sure you´ll get info, but we´ve seen better.||Finally, WiFi while free, was very slow up to unusable (and we tried several devices). Up to the point where I just enabled my 4G tablet and shared it as a hotspot because the hotel Wifi was useless.||||Overall - will you have a good stay: I´m sure you will. And I have no problem giving 4 stars.||You will have a good sleep in the beds and overall have a relaxed moment.||But would I go again? Probably not and I´dd rather go for a real B&B at one of the dozens vineyards in the area for a more...
Read moreDropped in and met the owner. He was just going to close for the day while we came. No other guests. We asked for a room, and ended up in the tower suite. He told us that we would be alone on the Schlössl, but we would get breakfast next morning. He showed us the wine cooler, and told us to take what we wanted and pay the next day. We had a good time sitting on the terrace while the darkness was coming.|Looking out next morning, we could see tables ready for breakfast 4 floors down. Fantastic meal.|Beautiful, well kept historic buildings only 5 minutes away from the highway.|Really value for money!! Many thanks to the Landlord who trusted us and gave us the keys to the castle...
Read moreStayed only one night, but we did feel the soul of royality. Beautiful garden, splendid doors and windows, spacious stairs and corridors don’t let you go directly to your room. Room was fantastic with almost 4 meter high ceiling, same for the bathroom. Pictures and all the objects on the walls make you feel like you’re in a museum. As we heard, Georgi Schloss is expert in making big wedding parties, but we experienced their friendly heart while we’re the only guests in the schloss and were given the keys of the schloss. Another surprising moment was realizing the magnificent open-buffet breakfast that was prepared just like the hotel is full. Many thanks to the helpful...
