A magnificent stay at the Arabella Jagdhof. A recently renovated, new addition to the Marriott Bonvoy collection - I was lucky enough to be able to snag the 130m2/1400ft2 Arabella Suite (2 king bedrooms, 1.5 bath, and walk-in closet, plus a terrace) for Valentine’s Day weekend at an awesome rate. There are multiple restaurants, a play room for children, pool, and spa. Overall a very kid/family friendly hotel. Only a few negatives: 1) the otherwise well-equipped spa/sauna is missing a plunge pool. After a blistering 15 minutes in the Finnish sauna, you can only take a cold shower. 2) even the penthouse suite has only old LCD TVs with no means of connecting via bluetooth, WiFi, or easily accessible HDMI ports, leaving you with only local cable channels. 3) the hotel/room/amenity descriptions on the website/Bonvoy app are lacking and not up to Marriott standards. The penthouse suite is inaccurately described as a 1-bedroom suite with only 1 king, and the room has only one picture - a view of the terrace. Restaurant times/info/menus are also not easily accessible in the app. Other positive notes: 1) the penthouse suite is extra private on a nearly exclusive floor accessible only via room key. 2) highly recommend the cream pack massage 3) friendly, professional staff

This was an interesting one. The location is killer, simply amazing. The hotel is actually quite lovely. The rooms, ample size but could definitely use an upgrade. The carpet throughout seemed like it had not been changed in 50 years. The restaurant was ok. We were literally GIFTED, let me repeat, they came out and said “here is a gift from the chef,” for which we were all charged for at the end of the meal. That was perhaps the most insane thing. The private beach is a hard, hard pass. Enjoy the grounds and spa, which truly were wonderful. The rest- blah…..

We absolutely loved the hotel’s location — it’s surrounded by beautiful nature and the scenery is just amazing! Some services were missing during our stay, but we were told that more activities, like bike rentals, usually start in May when the season officially opens. Service really depended on the staff member; some were helpful, but we ended up carrying our own luggage to the room. Also, apps like Bolt and Uber weren’t available in the area, but luckily there’s a bus stop just a short walk from the hotel.

This is a charming hotel built in an old estate. They've done a good job of updating the rooms to be comfortable while keeping the charm of the original. We really appreciated having two truly comfortable chairs in our room as well as a very comfortable bed. The felt tote bag filled with towels for the pool is a nice touch (it is supposed to be for sale in the lobby shop, sadly it was not). Being an older property wally are a bit thin, and noise can carry over from other rooms more than in newer hotels.

The hotel is located near the lake...there is a hiking path (fairly steep) down to the lake, where there would also be a private beach area in summer time. There's an indoor pool with lots of comfortable seating around it, and a nice little sauna area.

Parking is free for hotel guests at any of the lots in the area. You just need to register your license plate in the system using the tablet at the check in desk.

Breakfast offerings were ok No made to order eggs, etc...and the buffet is set up in a narrow and dead end area which makes for a lot of standing and waiting to get to items, or get back out to your table once you do get something.. The hotel would be smart to move the buffet location to something that allows for better flow.

There is only a kettle and instant coffee packets in the room (no coffee maker) and (very surprisingly for a hotel of this level and price point) just an "all in one" shower gel/shampoo/conditioner in the restroom.

A better breakfast set up including made to order eggs, in room coffee maker and separate shower gel, shampoo and conditioner would have earned this property a 5...

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! They have a beautiful swimming pool and big spa area (2 sauna, steam room that smells eucalyptus - love it, infra red light cabin, rest area etc.) The food at the restaurant was really excellent and home-made (we were supposed to eat in Salzburg the 2nd night but finally decided to eat again at the hotel, you need to book though - I recommend the fish, the barley risotto, the beef "spritz" and the watercress soup). All very reasonably priced considering the quality. There is a kids menu too. The breakfast was also very nice with fresh and delicious pastries and breads (not frozen stuff), excellent cheese, omelet made to order etc. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and nice too. The location is great to explore the area (you need a car though for that) and it is right next to the lake, you can walk there to swim (too cold when we were there) or walk to a local fish restaurant by the lake just serving fish from the lake (mainly lunch or early diner as it's closing at 6pm). Our kids especially loved the kids' play room with table tennis and babyfoot, they can safely play there while waiting for their dish as it's right below the restaurant. There is also an outdoor playground, a great bonus. They even organised a kind of egg hunt on easter. Everything was just perfect, I can only highly...

The service in this hotel is horrendous. I think the staff ignore Asian tourists on purpose. Throughout my 2 nights stay in the hotel, the TV was not working. Repeated requests via Marriott Bonvoy app chat and in person request at the front desk was met with pleasantries but no action was taken to resolve the issue. When I left the hotel on the 3rd day, TV was still not working.

At the breakfast restaurant I was asked for my room number before seating which was the norm. After breakfast, on my way out, a male staff stopped me and asked me again for my room number to confirm that I am entitled to breakfast. I do not see him asking other guests leaving the restaurant.

As a platinum member of Marriott with more than 600 nights stay, I have yet to come across such poor attitude by service staffs.

If you are Asian, avoid this place. They are well patronised by westerners and has no need for our business.

Update 12/8/24 I checked my Marriott account 2 days after checking out and noticed the Marriott points awarded for my stay was only 25% of what I am entitled based on the terms of Marriott Bonvoy program. I had to write in to Marriott member support with copies of the physical bill to request for a correction, which they promptly addressed to my satisfaction (kudos to Marriott). This stay at Arabella is giving me lots of follow up work on my vacation....
