Schloss Fuschl Fischerei — Restaurant in Hof bei Salzburg

Great experience, the best smoked fish (Lachsforelle) I have ever eaten! Last October "summer" days spent nearby Fuschlsee must be connected to the visit of "Schlossficherei" - friendly service willing to advise, possibility to pay by card, simple wooden tables and benches, beautiful lake, delicious freshly smoked fish with bread and excellent horseradish sauce. We experienced rush hours on Saturday (knowing the taste of their fish, I totally understand it), but we had to wait few minutes in the queue only, and at the end of the queue still smiling lady - what else you can wish? The fish is truly exceptional, do try it with the horseradish or the mustard sauces they sell. The atmosphere and the view of the lake is unique. We visit this place for several years during our upper Austria vacations and we always enjoy the experience.

This year though the Service was a downer. The guy at the counter was not welcoming at all, better said he seemed annoyed with all the customers. However, we didn t let this affect our time there and we savored our salmon trout while seating with our feet in the cold water of the beautiful...

5 stars for the quality of the fish - seriously pick up fish to go from here, you won't be disappointed! 4 stars for the location. 2 stars for the temperature we got our fish at (it was ice cold and not "luke warm" as advertised...)
