Flight: Flight time from London Heathrow is approximately 2 hours. Travelled with BA in economy class - very good flight.||Transfer from the airport to the hotel: The transfer takes approximately 2.45mins to 3 hours so quite a long journey. Our journey was paid for so cannot tell you how much this would cost by cab.||Hotel: Immediately on arrival you feel welcome and homely. The staff takes your luggage all the way to the room. Check-in is very quick and efficient.||Staff: Absolutely wonderful, very friendly and helpful. This is a family run hotel.||Rooms: Lovely rooms, decorated typically to Austrian style with wooden interior, four poster bed, little sitting area with sofa and chair, plus rocking chair, plasma screen, minibar, hairdryer. The bathroom has all toiletries available, i.e. shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, soap, shower gel, shoe polish, and many towels are available. The toilet and the bathroom are separate. There are plenty of hangers in the cupboard and there are plenty of cupboards to put your clothes in. There is also a safe deposit box available. The room is nice size and has a balcony either overlooking the front or if you are at the back you face some other hotels and of course the mountains. ||||Facilities: There are health and spa facilities at the hotel i.e. gym, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, play room, relaxation room, and massage room etc. Word of warning though, if you venture to the sauna, be mindful that some people go naked, i.e. whilst I was there, I saw two people of opposite sex walk in completely naked, some people find this offensive! There are no lockers at the spa area; you are expected to use the gown/ sandals provided in your bathroom which you can wear before entering the spa area.||||Restaurant/ bar: Fabulous bar with sitting area with sofas in front of a log fire, plenty of drinks available although extremely expensi ve. Absolutely delicious food in the restaurant but again very expensive.||||Entertainment: There is weekly entertainment at the hotel bar, usually a live band/ singer. ||||Skiing: Ski lifts are situated just walk away from the hotel, If you haven't skied before, you will find it hard to ski on these mountains as there are no nursery slopes nearby. I would say that you have to be at least intermediate skier to venture to these slopes. Also if you are afraid of heights, this is not the place for you since the cable cars take you way up the mountains and looking down makes you dizzy - that is how high you are.||||Outside hotel: There are plenty of other restaurants, bars and other hotels to eat and drink at. There is an excellent but crazy bar called Piccadilly where you find live singer singing every day from 5pm onwards. It gets very busy and smoky but it’s very good fun. There is also another crazy bar called Crazy Giraffe which I recommend for party lovers. There are banks, shops etc in the village. The hotel does not exchange money so you need to do so in the bank during a week day, and the currency is of course Euro.||||Word of warning: The music at the hotel gets very loud and often goes on until very early hours in the morning. Sleeping is a problem because the music echoes and travels through the wooden floors and walls especially if you stay in the lower level of the hotel. If you are unlucky enough to be there when there is a group of business travellers, you can expect partying till late in the morning so it might be worth checking with the hotel before booking whether there are any big groups.||||My overall rate is: Very good skiing (for intermediate/advanced), lovely staff and hotel is 5 star that it says it is in terms of cleanliness and service including food. Very expensive so not really for low budget travellers to stay in this particular hotel unless you can book all inclusive. Great for those who love bar entertainment and log fires.||||Happy to answer any questions you...
Read moreWe are usually astounded by the food quality and by the friendly staff, but today was not one of those days.
This restaurant has always been a must on every vacation. We always made sure to come at least once if not more often. We always adored the rustic vibe and the friendly staff, but most importantly we loved the food so much, that we even brought friends with us multiple times.
Today, however, was a different story. When we first looked at the menu we quickly realised that there must have been some changes made to it, as some of the dishes that we enjoyed in the past were completely missing. So much so that the only fully vegan option would have been the French fries.
I understand that veganism isn't the status quo, but I expected to at least be able to choose what I wanted to eat. If I could actually eat animal protein of any kind (which I can't because of my medical condition), this wouldn't have been an issue, as there were multiple vegetarian options.
No big deal. I asked for my dish to be made without eggs and explained that I can't eat animal protein. The portion size was a bit frustrating, as it was way too small, but I rolled with it. The problem however was the salad I ordered. I don't know if they just forgot to mention that the dressing had cream in it, which I didn't notice until i was halfway done because the dressing was mostly at the bottom or if they just thought I could eat the dressing, which I clearly stated I couldn't. I then spent the next 20 minutes in the bathroom throwing it all up.
My mother had a similar experience. We both suffer from the same illness, so she asked for a bigger salad and specifically said it should be without the mozzarella. Not only was the salad with the same dressing as mine, but they first put mozzarella on it and when the waitress noticed, she brought it back to the kitchen. Ten seconds later, the same salad comes out but without the cheese. She noticed the dressing and didn't even eat anything.
I'm not one to complain and critique, but I don't think that I should be suffering for a whole day afterwards just because someone didn't pay enough attention.
I do hope they get back on the right track, as I would love to come back, but for now all I have...
