Hotel Stolz in Zieglstadl — Hotel in Matrei am Brenner

Stayed here with a tour group for 6 nights. Great midpoint location between Munich, Innsbruck, Salzburg, and Ettal, all visits during our tour. Our room (215) had a huge balcony and 2 skylights. The bathroom had a large shower and a mirror spanning the wall with the sink and toilet (unfortunately not at an appropriate height for my 5’ roommate. However, there was a full-length mirror right outside the bathroom. ||The beds, two twins set in a wooden frame next to each other, were very comfortable and we had LOTS of room with a breakfast seating area below the skylights, as well as a desk and chair on another wall. There was ample closet/storage space with enough hangers for both of us, as well as 2 coat hooks near the room entrance. ||Our group was provided breakfast and dinner and the owner even had to go lunches made for us on our overnight at another hotel near Oberammergau and for our departure to the airport at 3 am on our last day! I enjoyed the food and especially the service, provided by Sveton and Darrin, who were so very accommodating for our large group. ||The only negatives were: only air circulation was from open patio door or skylights. Because of rainy weather, we couldn’t open skylights every night so slept with patio door wide open (our group was in the next room and our balconies connected!) The door also tilts inward for more privacy, but that didn’t provide enough air for us Americans used to sleeping in air conditioning nearly year-round! The weather was not too hot (upper 70’s F when we arrived) but without the open door/windows would have been very stuffy, especially later in summer. Our room faced the street, so lots of highway noise until the late hours of the night. Balcony lights automatically come on at dusk and off at 10 pm. If you need dark to sleep, bring a sleep mask. ||As mentioned by another reviewer, wash cloths and toiletries are not provided. However, there is a refillable bottle of hand wash at the sink and a bottle of shampoo/body wash...

We stayed as part of a tour group. After missing a connection we arrived very late and the owner was waiting for us and had prepared a meal for us since we missed dinner. They provided breakfast and dinner for our group and the meals were very good with plenty of morning options and usually five courses the dinner. ||The room was clean and we were on the main floor at the back facing the mountains. We kept the windows open at night but remember to turn off the lights first so you do not attract bugs. We had good storage areas in the room and a sitting area with a table next to a small desk. Every room seemed to be different and we had a pretty large bathroom that was long and narrow. Keys are large so remember to leave them at the desk as you travel during the day. ||We did not really have enough time to enjoy other amenities but we did use a large conference room for group meetings. There were nice views from the hotel and it was convenient to areas we were visiting in Southern Germany and Austria. Even in August temperatures were mild...

Ero in viaggio in Autostrada per ritornare in Italia quando ho beccato uno spigolo di uno spartitraffico di cemento di quelli che posizionano temporaneamente con la ruota posteriore e quindi si e' tagliato il copertone con un poco di coraggio ho raggiunto il distributore AGIP a due km di distanza li ho trovato un dipendente alla cassa che parlava solo la lingua tedesca ma comunque di un antipatia mai vista in vita mia, poi improvvisamente e' arrivato un altro dipendente che parlava Italiano e si e' reso disponibilissimo , mi ha chiamato il carro attrezzi e dopo un'ora di attesa e' arrivato conducendomi alla prima uscita c'ioe MATREI in Brennero li dopo pochi minuti dall'arrivo mi hanno comunicato attraverso un dipendente che parlava italiano che il pneumatico non era disponibile e quindi mi proponevano o di dormire in auto oppure di chiamarmi loro un albergo, chiaramente avendo la famiglia a seguito ho chiesto di trovarmi un albergo ....MADONNA che celerità dopo 5 minuti e' arrivato il titolare dell'albergo con un auto multipla e ci ha accompagnati presso la sua struttura !! Da ignori abbiamo chiesto se poteva applicarci la mezza pensione e lui subito ha risposto che non era possibile avrebbe applicato tariffa e modalità alla carta ...abbiamo per forza maggiore accettato e quindi cenato e pernottato !! Il giorno seguente appena scesi nella reception ci ha guardati con un sorriso ironico dicendo "grosso problema grosso problema tua macchina gomma arrivare tra 7 giorni ...prenotiamo ? " gli ho aperto la mano in faccia e detto aspetta !! Stop .....sono risalito in camera e dopo qualche telefonata in sudtirol ho trovato il pneumatico quindi sono sceso ho pagato il conto e chiesto di essere accompagnato presso l'officina !! Al che e' arrivato un energumero tatuato che era il figlio e con un espressione tremendamente arrabbiata sembrava volesse picchiarmi ..mi ha detto anche qualcosa in tedesco tipo ...italiani ....italiani e non ho capito altro ma di sicuro non era un complimento ho pagato 270 euro e mi ha accompagnato presso l'officina ... E nel pomeriggio e' arrivato il pneumatico altri 310 euro ( un Italia lo avrei pagato 220 ) no problem anche 500 lo avrei pagato per scappare da quella trappola ...comunque ho pagato il soccorso altri 217 euro e ho ringraziato per il GROSSO IMPEGNO manifestato per cercare il pneumatico e sono partito ....ma voi vi rendete conto io non del posto ed incapace di parlare la lingua tedesca e con il mio scarno Inglese sono riuscito a trovare il pneumatico e loro con una mega officina attrezzata anche per Camion non e'stata capace di trovare il pneumatico ....e poi noi Campani portiamo la nomea di essere truffaldini .....!!!! A voi le debite...
