Gasthof Rieder Stub`n — Hotel in Ried im Oberinntal

We booked this place from Friday to Friday (so we could get cheap Easyjet flights) via booking.com well in advance. We wanted to ski Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis area, but without the price tag of their accommodation, so opted to stay in the village of Ried im Oberinntal, which is in the valley, below the ski area with free ski bus link to the lifts ( a spectacular 20 min ride along zig-zagging road climbing into the mountains, with breathtaking vistas opening at every turn). On arrival we were met by very nice young owner, who spoke good English and was most courteous. He informed us that the guesthouse is overbooked on our 2nd night (due to booking.com, who later contacted us by email trying to resolve it) and that he will have to put us for 1 night in a neighbouring b&b. We were shocked and upset to start with, but Martin managed this situation so well, that we soon forgot about it. He carried our bags to the car, drove us 5 min to a b&b up the road where a very kind English speaking owner welcomed us and we spent a peaceful night there. Next morning Martin picked us up at agreed time and carried our bags and drove us back to his guesthouse, where we were allocated fabulous room, had delicious breakfast and were looked after by wonderful housekeeper Regina like we were her closest family. We spent a wonderful week in this place and despite the overbooking incident, the warm hospitality of the staff and the way we were looked after made into a truly memorable holiday. The rooms have good quality furniture and bedding, bathrooms are lovely, everything is spotlessly clean, rich breakfast int he morning with eggs cooked to order to your liking (scrambled with bacon, omellette, boiled), meats, cheeses, youghurts, fruit, cereals, jams etc etc. The ski buses (actually luxury coaches) stopped outside and were on time and we didn't mind the journey up the mountain as it was so spectacular. This area of Austria is mostly German speaking, we heard English speech twice in a week (not including the owner), but I enjoyed practicing my bad German, everyone was so friendly and encouraging. Our family of 4 stayed in two rooms over 9 days. The Rieder Stubn was our home base for trips to neighboring areas. We ate breakfast every morning and then were off to our adventures in the vicinity. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms were spotless. The balconies were covered and a great place to just admire the view, enjoy a lunch or take in the sounds of the birds every morning and the church bells on Sunday. So close the Inn River, one can also hear it's mighty roar. The best part of our experience was the kindness of Geri and Sophie. Geri met us terriby early in the morning (1a.m.?) to greet us, show us our rooms and give us a key. Our hosts were very accommodating to our time schedules. Made fantastic breakfasts for us. Wir waren zu dritt und hatten das Glück kurzfristig noch das letzte Zimmer vom 17.02.-24.02.||zu bekommen.||||ZIMMER:||||Die Zimmer sind rustikal und einfach eingerichtet und haben alles was man braucht. WLan ist im Preis inbegriffen (was auch in der heutigen Zeit nicht überall selbstverständlich ist). Das Badezimmer ist auf neuwertigem Stand und top gepflegt. Das gesamte Zimmer an sich ||war ebenfalls sehr sauber. Die Matratzen fand ich etwas hart aber ich konnte eigenartigerweise sehr gut darauf schlafen. ||Es gibt einen überdachten Balkon (ähnlich einem Wintergarten) auf dem, wenn man muss rauchen kann.||||||VERPFLEGUNG:||||Wir hatten uns für die Halbpension entschieden, was wir am ersten Abend fast bereut hätten.||Das Abendessen besteht aus tgl. wechselnden 4-Gänge Menüs die einem guten Preis-Leistungsverhältnis unterliegen. Leider bin ich teilweise nicht von den ersten vier Gängen satt geworden. (Eigentlich bin ich nicht so verfressen, jedoch war ich an unserem Tisch nicht der ||einzige) Andererseits gab es auch Gäste denen die diese 4 Gänge nicht ganz schafften. Vielleicht waren wir doch einige der wenigen Gäste die aufgrund der guten Bergluft einen gesunden Appetit hatten. Daher muss ich dem Gastgeber eingestehen, dass es schwierig ist die Portionsgrößen zufriedenstellend zu berechnen. Jedoch bin ich nie hungrig vom Tisch aufgestanden, da es kein Problem war einen Nachschlag zu bekommen. Die meisten Tage jedoch war das Abendessen ausreichend und auch sehr abwechslungsreich. Vor allem hat man dadurch Dinge ausprobiert, die man sich so nicht bestellt hätte. Zusammengefasst hat die Küche der Riederstub'n dem guten Ruf der österreichischen Küche alle Ehre gemacht.||||Das Frühstück war ebenfalls reichhaltig - Standard||||||SERVICE:||||Das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend und wirklich freundlich. Es herrscht eine angenehme familiäre Atmosphäre. Extrawünsche (wir haben noch eine zusätzliche Decke benötigt) waren absolut kein Problem. Von dem Service insgesamt können sich einige große 4/5-Sterne Häuser noch eine dicke Scheibe abschneiden.||||||LAGE:||||Die Lage des Hauses befindet sich an der Hauptstraße des Dorfes, wo jedoch nicht allzuviel Verkehr herrscht. Eine Skibushaltestelle zum Skigebit Fiss-Ladis befindet sich direkt gegenüber. Vorteil ist dabei auch, dass die Haltestelle die letzte ist in Richtung Skigebit. Somit sind die Fahrzeiten mit dem Bus in Ordnung (10-15min)||||||FAZIT:||||Gut bürgerliches Haus mit familiärer Atmosphäre.
