Mixed, but overall not positive. We actually vacationed here as we won a silent auction for a charity event. Given that we could sleep 6 people, we invited the in laws.
Needless to say - don't waste your money. When we arrived we were offered a 2 bedroom town home from a 2 bedroom suite. With 4 adults, and 2 kids, that sounded great. Turns out - this tow home was garbage.
First of all - the toilets were practically coming off the toilets, and the jack / Jill sinks in the master bath were busted. A number of lights and switches didn't work.
When I took it to the front desk, I didn't expect to be moved, but to have some offer to make it right. After all, I paid $3k to come here. I overpaid, by a ton. Instead I was told that without moving my family of 6 across the resort there was nothing they could do.
So wait - you basically downgraded my experience and then in order to make it right you want me to move across the resort? Well, no joy. I guess the car rental I paid $300 for meant nothing.
Now, I was willing to let that go. Things happen - I get that. That was until today. My family and I were interested in going to the Taino Beach Bonfire. The Lucaya marketplace had a stand for the Taino Resort / Lucaya Water Sports. Due to the hurricane, they don't have power and were not able to book us there. We didn't feel comfortable giving our r credit card to the gal working there (V Lowe). So we decided to mention it to the concierge desk at this resort.
We had the misfortune of running into "Lorraine", and when we told her they offered us a discounted price she rolled her eyes at us. She then called the Taino resort, and asked if their CC machine was busted. We told her it wasn't at the resort, but she didn't listen. She rolled her eyes at us again - and the way she spoke to us it was clear she was trying to catch us lying. Funny thing - this was right after Naomi (likely I misspelled that...) wanted us to come to their time share presentation over breakfast. Uh huh...
Instead of booking through our resort - we called them directly, and paif full price. We would have been willing to do that, but felt it was fair to ask for the discount we were offered at first. We booked other activities - but did it without their help.
Best part is - I actually brought our room issue to Lorraine's attention the day earlier. There were a number of people nearby so I pulled her aside. I didn't want to cause a scene, and wanted to make sure no one had a negative perception coming in. She told us it was appreciated. So, after doing the right thing I was called a liar.
To add to it all, we asked for paper towels and were informed they don't normally replenish those. They did give them to us, but really? It's six people in a room for a week, paper towels cost very little.
All we wanted was to be shown that they understood our problem, and make a genuine and honest effort to make it better.
I do intend to notify the charity I bought this from of the issue, the company that donated it, and anyone who will listen.
The best part? My wife and I could afford a time share here - and discussed it as a possibility before departing. No - there's no way.
All that being said - there was 1 lone bright spot. His name is Moose, and this dude rocks! If you see him around the resort say hello. He is a genuinely good human being, and works what seems like 6 jobs there. Always smiling, and helping everyone. This place doesn't deserve that guy - I hope someone from another resort finds him, and takes...
Read moreI booked this hotel through Airbnb with the host Nina. I booked it for June 28 or at the end of June. I arrived on July 2nd and sent the host Nina a message about the minimum deposit because it was not on her policy, This place isn't newly furnished or was renovated for a $200 deposit. Let's start with the I never usually book any Airbnb from my last issues with a host lying so I bypassed every situation and made up my mind that I would try my best to enjoy this vacation and still leave a good review because the last host on Airbnb decided to lie and leave me a bad review for speaking the truth and asking for my refunds. The minute I went in the lady said it was $200 for a deposit so I let her know how I didn't appreciate the host never replying and that it was unprofessional. I also had to speak to one of the cleaners because in the living room is an extra bed and that's where my three-year-old and 8 year old stayed my daughter came into our room letting us know what she was bleeding and I couldn't figure out why she was bleeding until the next morning when we woke up and push the pull-out bed back in there was glass and candy on the floor as if there prior guess had left candies and left broken glass on the floor and didn't clean it properly and of course ocean reef didn't do any cleaning. I immediately called one of the cleaners and she made it very clear that on the 4 night, she could assist me because they can't clean once it is an Airbnb I let her know that I would need at least some cleaning supplies because there was glass that was on the floor that wasn't well swept that my daughter Got cut, she was very nice and came and assisted right away. I took pictures but didn't make a big deal because I knew already I wouldn't stay there again because the furniture and fixtures of the bathroom are old and it is infested with roaches so don't bother cooking. Don't book them through Airbnb because the host never responds and also I wasn't awaree Of the policy and made it clear and asked front desk if it was okay I invited my husband daughterthe lady gave us the okay before I picked her up two days later and wasn't aware of policy and it would have been okay for front desk to say it wasn't allowed .The chair was nasty so I didn't allow my kids to sit on it and I had to kill two roach.
The cleaners were very nice and my husband also got frustrated with the front desk lady because I called at 7:40 and let her know that I had a flight to catch for 10:15AM she made it very clear that they won't be open until 9 AM and told her that its okay the room would be ready to be reviewed at 9AM , I went to the front desk and she want there so I left and sent my husband to pick up my $200 dollars for a roach condo.
I also forgot to mention the loud noise you hear with the horrible renovation they did .I believe they part off their upstairs condo into two rooms so you can hear the person or persons walking up the stairs every minute and every night .My kids enjoyed the play ground and that was...
Read moreDO NOT GO! DO NOT WASTE YOUR $$$! My family stayed 10 days at this resort. They NEVER came to clean or even offered to clean our room. If you want clean towels or linens you must go get them yourself in the laundry room on Tues or Thurs only. Wi-Fi is not free. We ended up paying more for Wi-Fi than we do at home. I reserved a rental car online through the resort two to three weeks prior to our trip. When we checked in we learned our car was given away and not available. Later that day they provided us with a car that was 10 years old, smaller than the one I reserved and charged us the same fee. At that time we provided our drivers license as well as our calif insurance cards. At no point were we informed our Calif Insurance would not be honored in the Bahamas should we get into an accident. Nor were we informed that we must buy or offered additional insurance coverage. Also, they never reduced our rate for the smaller partially inoperable 10 year old rental. Unfortunately 3 days later we were involved in a serious auto accident and this rental car was totaled. I was transported by ambulance to the hospital. I was released and spent the remaining week in the room recuperating. No one ever came to our room to clean, provide clean towels or linens or to discuss the incident with us….NOTHING! Once or twice I walked around the resort and the staff was always friendly and kind always had a smile for me and offered their kind words. However the day before we checked out the manager CINDY advised my husband that, as she thought, our insurance company denied the claim because this insurance company always denies claims out of the country. WHAT? We went to the office the follow morning to check out and CINDY told my husband he must now pay for the totaled vehicle in full before leaving the country and we could work it out with our credit card company later. Cindy proceeded to charge our AMEX $6700 for this 10 year old car with absolutely no documentation to back it up. She said we could submit the claim through our AMEX card. To date… more than two weeks later no documentation to support the value of this 10 year old partially in-operable Nissan. (Note we found a bill of sale in the glovebox indicating the vehicle was purchased for $4000). Needless to say we are filing a claim disputing this fraudulent charge by Ocean Reef Resort. SHAME ON YOU! BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!!...
