Robbie Arbor (October 23-27, 2025)|Phone: 817-798-1065 Email Address: robbiearbor@gmail.com|Confirmation: 91603EE012102|Booking ID (hotel): 5136B543527495|||On October 23-27, 2025, my daughter and I went to Freeport, Bahamas for my nephew’s wedding, we stayed at the Viva Fortuna Beach by Wyndham (all-inclusive resort).|Upon making our reservations, I contacted Wyndham and told them that my daughter has a Gluten allergy, and representative from Wyndham told me that the resort could accommodate her allergy, they said they would add the information to our reservation and they also gave me the resort phone number to call them directly and let them know prior to us checking in.|We arrived on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 1:30, check-in time was at 3:00 p.m. so we were early and could not check in at the time. The front desk said go have lunch and then come back and your rooms would be ready. We reminded them again about my daughter’s gluten allergy, and the clerk at the front desk said tell the chef and they will take care of her. We asked for the chef when we went to eat lunch, and she came out and pointed out only the salad and chicken was available for her to eat. They did not offer prepare anything else for her, with this being and all-inclusive resort, you would think they would have several options for her to eat. The food that was supposed to be hot was cold, the burners was on the sides by the food instead of being under chaffers to keep the food warm, flies were all over the food and there were birds in the area also eating off the same area, and they acted as if it was nothing. Cats were all around the place enjoying the food. We reported food situation to the front desk again regarding the gluten allergy and the extra guess (flies, birds and cats) in eating area, all the front desk said was we will take care of her no worries.|We tried dinner that evening, and all they had was pasta and she could not eat there, because it was not gluten free. So, we had to eat off site and pay. They had a couple of restaurants on site but you had to make reservations within 24 hours and they only served a limited number of guests, good luck getting in, because the guest who arrived before you, had already reserved for dinner. The restaurants were only open in the evenings. |The next day we say we would give them another try, so we went to breakfast, and it was the same thing, nothing for her to eat, except for an omelets, the meat for breakfast was hotdogs, no bacon, if they had bacon it was for the elite guess which was the ones that has a specific tier status, they wore different wrist bands colors (gray, yellow and black, I believe). Even though, we paid for this resort, there were certain things that was off limits, if you were not in the higher tier group, which was not mention on the Wyndham or Viva website.|We finally get the keys to our room (rm. 2151), everything is outdated. Nothing is like what the website shows. The room smells, I had to purchase air freshener to tolerate the smell. In the bathroom there were plumbers’ putty all over the showers and bathroom sink, when I say all over, where the water drains in the shower the plumber putty was just packed around the drain in clumps, not smooth out. The toilet you had to hold the handle down so it would flush. There were stains on the wall along with spots of plumbers’ putty. The chair that was in the room was a clear plastic chair that you use at a wedding, not appropriate for a room chair. The floors look as if they hadn’t been swept in days. When you reached out to the front desk to ask for another room, all they would say is we will take care of it, but you never would hear from them. | This venue only cared about keeping the venue at full capacity. | If you were an elite member, you received the fluffy beach towels, while the blue bands had old blue strip towels which was hard and worn. Also, the view of the beach was beautiful, but if you were not and the elite member (different color bands) you could not sit under the gazeboes with the nice cushion chairs and covered from the sun (these places were roped off) and there were staff to serve them. |when you ate at the restaurant there were linen tablecloths, your silverware was wrapped and very nice stemware on the table and the staffed served you. If you had the regular blue bans, you ate whatever was out for display to eat, which my daughter could not eat because she had a gluten allergy. There were no tablecloths, nor glassware on the tables, you had to go and get your drinks, mostly paper cups, no service from the staff. The day my daughter and I went for breakfast, the fruit was the only thing she could eat, at the time we did not know we couldn’t eat in that area, until one of the staff members told me we could not eat there because only the people with certain band colors, and showed us a sign on the wall with the different band colors. When making your reservations there is no where that states you have to be an elite member to get special treatment or extra amenities.|In the area where you check-in, there is mold all on the ceilings and walls, I had taken pictures, but I lost my phone at the airport and nothing was backup to the cloud.|I usually don’t complain too much about venues and I know everything is not going to be like I would have it, but this is one of the worse places I have ever stayed and I am a frequent traveler and have stayed in many venues, but none like this. Yes, they have many travelers that come and go there, and I am sure there are many complaints, but I am particular were I eat and lay my head down to sleep.|I know there are many health violations, health hazardous from, the million of flies all over the foods (not covered), along with the birds eating and flying all over the food and guess while eating and the birds were eating the same food we were eating, also the cats jumping up on the tables as well. Don’t forget the plumbing in the bathrooms, and the mold on the walls and ceiling.| This place needs to closed down temporary until it is brough up to date, and the health violations have been taken care of.|The worst thing is that my daughter paid full price for a great experience of an all-inclusive resort and it fell short of it all, especially not to be able to enjoy the food and me as well, while having to spend more money to eat off site. We were able to get into one restaurant for dinner the night before we left.|I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN WYNHAM AND THE RESORTS...
Read moreWe were to be at Viva for two weeks. Our experience there was subpar to say the least and within the first 2-5 days we were terrified for our health and safety due to fires all around the resort. Came in on Sat March 15. First issue was trying to book on the app for the a la carte restaurants. It didn't recognize that our room was registered so we asked for assistance at guest services. The woman, very stern and unfriendly, said we had to do it through the app and said they were closing and to come back in the morning. We did and she ended up actually helping us book. Still couldn't crack a smile however. There were a handful of staff that seemed friendly but most were definitely not happy and didn't smile when you said good morning or hi. The buffet didn't have much selection but could find a few things that were ok but cold. Best option for breakfast is to stand in the only line for eggs made how you'd like. Also, the bacon was there and dished out only by the person making the eggs, if it was even available at all. The a la cartes are actually very good though we never got into the Mexican one. ||As for the fires, which we know was not the fault of Viva BUT Viva certainly was not at all prepared for this kind of event. Smoke would encompass the resort at night and upon questioning what was happening we were told it was under control and there was nothing to worry about. We took a day trip by cab into Port Lucaya on the Monday, so day three, we saw smoke and some burned brush in the area. On our way back there were actual fires and such thick black smoke that you couldn't see a car length in front of the car. The cab driver had to slow right down and put her four ways on. This was about a block from our hotel. When we got to our room we took pictures of the smoke coming into the resort and saw people with their luggage packed and sitting at a gazebo on the beach trying to call and get out. We also packed a "go bag" incase things escalated. Also at this point there is no electricity, room phones or wifi. Generators were running throughout the resort to run most things but the room phone never worked. Once again we are told everything is under control. Didn't sleep well and smoke was in the room. By Wednesday we were so scared we discussed how we could get out of there. Wednesday evening was the worst. We did find out that some people in a section were evacuated from their rooms, some to another resort and some to other rooms within the resort. We had to put wet towels around the door and in the crack of the patio door to keep smoke out. We also wore masks that we thankfully had with us. Very little sleep at this point. The lobby, theatre and buffet were engulfed in thick smoke and NOT ONE SMOKE ALARM WENT OFF!!! So Thursday morning we stood in the Sunwing office and demanded assistance as to where to go. Some people had a couple days left now and couldn't afford to move to another resort and left the office. A few of us stayed and waited for word from Sunwing. Individual cases, that's how they took the info, no one ever got a call with any kind of option. I stood in that office and had the rep there keep inquiring. Finally by 4pm we were on our way to Grand Lucayan at Lighthouse Point, a Sunwing affiliation. Though we had to pay a substantial amount out of pocket to do so. Our friend spent a day in the hospital there on oxygen treatment, steroid and antibiotic treatment by IV and had to purchase medication and puffers. ||I can say that in all of our travels combined, we have never experienced this kind of inhumane treatment. I can't believe that there were no protocols in place for emergency situations like this. Management basically hid from everyone, leaving staff to say they don't know what to do. No smoke alarms in the worst smoke I've ever experienced. Local residents were evacuated but the hotel was not. Everyone there including staff were severely in danger. It was not simply brush on fire but also garbage, asphalt shingles, vehicles, rubber etc. This incident may well cause lasting health issues due to inhaling God knows what kind of toxins and carcinogens. Shame on Sunwing and...
Read moreI would not book again or recommend this “resort” to anyone. First let me start by saying the bar/food staff, entertainment staff, housekeeping and reception staff are kind and do the best they can in their positions with what is given to them. No complaints there. Second do not go to this hotel having won a free vacation. Nothing about it is free - just a huge scam. Third the sales people on ground are greedy and they lie to make sales. I understanding wanting to sale a product but if the product is good there is no need to lie. When you first arrive they hunt down all the new people; they then get you to sit through a 60-90 minute sales pitch to get free stuff. To be honest I don’t mind sitting through a presentation and they offered us a taxi cab voucher worth $20 which I thought was worth it since we planned to go shopping at Lucaya market. It also included a tote bag, two t-shirts, and a hat. Worth it right? Anyway my husband and I thought so and we showed up for the presentation. First of all our sales lady talked to us for not 90 minutes but for 3 hours! We began at 9am and finished right after 12pm. Then when we went to get our free stuff they told us that we did not qualify for the taxi voucher - what does that even mean? I asked what we needed to qualify for something they promised us and pointed out that no “qualifications” were stated in the beginning and that this was making no sense. The lady told us because of either our age or our not having a job. I am 29 and my husband is 34 and we literally own a business that’s in both of our names that operates 7 days a week. She proceeded to make a phone call and said we could have the voucher after we questioned her about these “qualifications”. When we left my husband suspected they didn’t want to give the voucher since we did not purchase shares with Viva Wyndham during the sales pitch. After that encounter with the sales team - them being so aggressive and trying to shove these shares down everyone’s throat then proceeding to lie and deem us not worth of a cab voucher put a really terrible tone on the rest of our 5 day stay. On the first day of arriving they make you wait until 3pm to check into your room and you cannot make any dinner reservations until you have your room number. Makes no sense. It really didn’t matter also because once you can make reservations literally everything is booked and the guest services will not get you into the restaurant even though they say to just come to the front and ask. More lies. The app doesn’t work at all - why even have it?Our cards stopped working about 3 times and each time we had to go to the office to fix it. The rooms are absolutely terrible. I think that has been the worst hotel bathroom I’ve ever had to use. It’s tiny and the shower was dirty. The door had a hole in it that had a terrible fix up job. Everything literally had rust. The chairs on our patio were dirty and I didn’t bother to even sit on them. The room was cold and barren. Nothing warm or special about it. Just old and worn down. Also there is only one working washing machine and two dryers on the whole property for guests to use and those of course are also very old. The food was just ok. The buffet had options so it was ok to play it safe with a salad or a rice and stew dish. They had cooks that made fresh omelettes and my husband liked that and they had fresh juice in the morning. The juice was about 40% pulp though and hardly juice. Almost like a watered down smoothie. It definitely was not close to 5 star food though. Think worn down buffet - golden coral level. The restaurants like I said were all booked aside from the viva dolce which is an Italian place. I was able to book this for my birthday night which was our last night there. It was just ok. Nothing special and the pasta at the buffet was honestly better. The pizza was about Pizza Hut level. We also decided to just go into the viva cafe and ask to be seated which they allowed. That place saved the food review as I would give it 4 stars. The pools and hot tub 1/5 star....
