The management here was rude and belligerent. I had brought the tender in the day before just to check out the docs so I could properly prepare my lines and fenders the next day. I tied the dinghy up went in and bought a couple of beers and the guy said normally there’s a fee, but you bought a couple of beers so no problem. I said thanks we’ll see you tomorrow. We ended up not coming into the marina but the next day I wanted to bring my wife, two girls and mother-in-law to look at the sharks. We put the dinghy on the beach, did not tie up to the dock, as soon as we walked on the dock, the older manager, who said he was the owner, which I doubt very seriously, was immediately rude and obnoxious about paying the fee. I said I’m happy to buy some drinks but for $15 per person, that’s $75 and if we have to pay $75 we won’t stay thank you. He immediately got belligerent; you’re stealing for me. You owe me $75. I replied, sir as soon as you told me that I was going to be required to pay$75, I said no thank you and we won’t stay. I am not stealing from you. This exchange with back-and-forth and the guy was yelling & super aggressive and had no discerning intelligence at all. There’s no gasoline here. There’s no diesel here, there’s no restaurant here,so if you’re a Live aboard cruiser or a charter crew, avoid at all costs. I do not want to reward this type of behavior. It seems like he’s only interested in the super yachts or the big yachts that come in to the marina and not concerned about cruisers coming in and spending money in his...

Beautiful place, dock attendants are very nice and make you feel at “home”... however beware!

I use my brand new credit card at this location for the first time (the one and only purchase made on it) and the very next day we departed the marina. Less than 24 hours later the card number was used for a fraudulent purchase in George Town, Exuma.

The worst part is once that card was used fraudulently it was blocked and I was out of a credit card. * Compass cay marina is not to be trusted with credit card information.*

This location is best visited via dingy or tender, pay cash and keep going!

I’ve been traveling the Exumas for the past 4 months and many people have reported fraudulent credit card purchases after visiting Compass Cay Marina. I was not the fist victim and looks like I will not be the last. Make sure you aren’t next.

This is how they get your information. They say the credit card machine is “down” and they need to take an “Imprint” or write your credit card information down. They do not charge you initially but as soon as you pull off the dock the run your card. Hours later your card is high jacked and your now on vacation with out access to your funds.

COMPASS CAY IS NOW A DAY TRIP VISIT VIA DINGY OR TENDER remember don’t use your credit card here.

To Compass Cay: Stop stealing people’s personal information! You’re making Compass Cay and...

Cool spot we visited on a full day tour from Exuma. It’s a pretty good haul but we’ll worth it. It was t too crowded when we first got there but then filled up quickly. They charge $10/person at the dock. There is a guy there cutting up chum which keeps the nurse sharks interested. They actually come up onto the slightly submerged dock. You are able to get in and swim and pet them. Our tour operator advised us to keep our hands in a fist to avoid getting bitten. Of course our adventurous 11 year old ended up getting a small bite on his hand when he tried to jump up onto to the dock where the sharks where being fed. Presumably they thought his little fingers were chum! He was ok though and has a story for a lifetime. There are also tons of bonefish, etc swimming around. There is a small bar right there on the dock as...

Swimming with the sharks at Compass Cay in Exuma (save and share this post): All Jordyn wanted to do on our trip to @visitthebahamas was swim with the sharks and did she. I had to literally drag her out of the water! 1. The sharks are at Compass Cay in #Exuma. 2. You can only get here by boat so you either have to have your own or you can take a tour like we did with @reelemin242. They were amazing and I highly recommend them. 3. Since Compass Cay is only 75 miles from Nassau many people take a day trip here so don’t think you have to be staying in the Exumas to get this experience. 4. You can feed and/or swim with the sharks here. There is a shallow area for anyone not comfortable swimming so you can still feed and touch them. 4. These are nurse sharks and typically harmless but obviously they’re wild sharks so pay attention and listen to the experts in the water with you. 5. What do they feel like? I describe their skin like rubbing your hand on sandpaper. So would you swim the sharks? Or have you done so already? P.S. So thankful she can swim so well, even in the ocean. All thanks to her lessons at @goldfishswimschool. #travelwithkids #familytravel #adventuretravel #travelreels #thetravelingchildinthebahamas
