We loved it. We took our family of two teenage children to this beautiful hotel for a night over the christmas period in December 2019. I must say I'm very glad that I didn't read the reviews before I booked this hotel. We were blown away by its beautiful charm as we arrived and it did not disappoint. Our room was very clean and comfortable and the heating was amazing. I believe it was a very reasonably priced hotel. We love this exploring the surrounds of the back of the hotel with the gardens and Lake and could have spent hours just war wandering around and exploring its Majestic beauty. But I think what blue is the way the most was the beautiful continental breakfast in the morning. The gentleman that was running the hotel over I stay was efficient and busy 2. The breakfast pastries were exquisite and there was so much food to choose from. You boil your own eggs to your desired measure. There was so much food on display you could eat until your heart's content. This being given as a free bonus was just such a wonderful start to our stay in Bruges. There was Fresh Meats cheeses croissants fresh fruit boiled eggs yoghurt cereals toast fresh homemade brown bread which was amazing I highly recommend you try and that as well as other condiments and blueberries etc we could not have been happy with the breakfast it was provided and then we were given time to explore the hotels around before hassle-free check out full stop our room was number I believe 23 will positioned at the front corner of the building looking out onto the beautiful landscape of the road below other reviews of said that the road was too busy we were there over the christmas period and we didn't think so at all. The sunset and sunrise looking out onto the cottages and the hills overlooking the front of the hotel was stunning didn't even worry about the fact that we weren't looking on to the gardens, as the beautiful sunrise was amazing.|Our room had a queen size bed and a set of bunks for our teenage children which was perfectly adequate.|The staff called us taxis whenever required into the centre of Bruges it costs around about 15 euro to get in there in an extra large taxi which was fantastic short trip and efficient. We paid $181 Aust for our room, which is very reasonable!|I would recommend and...

We had one of the most special experiences of our lives at Hotel Lodewijk Van Male. We came to Bruges to celebrate our daughter’s 2nd birthday, and we are so grateful that we chose this magnificent hotel. From the moment we arrived, we felt truly at home. The entire team welcomed us with such warmth, kindness, and sincerity that it made our special day even more meaningful. They prepared the most beautiful room overlooking the garden for us, and surprised us with thoughtful treats, a lovely gift, and a heartfelt card for our daughter. Every small detail showed how much they truly care about their guests, and it touched our hearts deeply. The hotel itself, housed in a stunning historic building, offers a unique and magical atmosphere. Our room was spotless, cozy, and filled with a peaceful charm. The breakfast was absolutely delightful — fresh, carefully prepared, and the perfect start to our day. Hotel Lodewijk Van Male is not just a place to stay; it’s a place where beautiful memories are created. Their genuine hospitality and attention to detail made our most special day unforgettable. We are sincerely thankful to the entire team, and if we ever visit Bruges again, we wouldn’t think of staying...

My partner and i had room nr 11, the bathroom was unpleasant!||The electric toilet is just disgusting! Everything stays in there and lingers. ||||I went to go wash in my moms room because she had an newer bathroom.||The carpet in the rooms are very stained and stuffy.||||We asked the reception several times if they could put flowers or extra decoration the so called bridal suite. They promised they would do it but never did...||||The bridal suit is one big joke! I dont know (but they probably do) ask more for this room. But its very small and simple. The only difference with the other rooms is: they have a balcony. ||||Upon arrival my mom and dads room were not even ready... ||This hotel is understaffed! And it shows by the given service. ||The staff is friendly...||||Because this was for a wedding, we didn't really had a lot of choice... ||But i would definitly NEVER book a room in this...

This was an amazing stay in Brussels. It’s very conveniently located and only 5 minutes drive from the main city centre. There is no staff if you check in late, but if you book from their website, they offer a very affordable price and have everything ready and waiting for you on arrival. The property is vast and beautiful! The gardens are well kept and they offer free breakfast which included a wide variety of options. The staff was very kind. The gardens are worth a nice morning stroll. The rooms are nice and comfortable with all basic amenities. There’s a lift on the property and accommodations available for families. They also provide free parking on site which is always great. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Bruges looking for a well priced and comfortable stay with a interesting history.

This hotel location is definitely prime, super close to the heart of Bruges; 10 mins by car. The castle is like a fairytale, from the moment you step in, you get an impression of the authenticity of its decorative furniture and the beauty of its wooden staircase and the amazing high ceiling. The staff is really friendly and responsive to feedback. On the other hand, our rooms were located on the first floor, which had a superb view overlooking the garden, which is famous for events, however the rooms are really old, it was stuffy and had a certain odor, it was not clean under the bed. On top of that there is no kettle or coffee machine in the room. Not even in the hotel “lobby”. We had no one staying in the evening at the hotel and it was really just us and maybe another guest. I would rate this hotel 3/5

We booked a 3 day stay and the was overall very good! The location is fantastic and the view was outstanding. We had booked a junior suit and it came with a balcony and very large room. The breakfast comes included as standard and it was a good selection of breads, cereals, eggs, bacon, cold meats, coffee, tea and juices. The only thing that could be improved is the addition of small amenities like a little soap holder in the bathroom and a dining table with chairs in the room (there is plenty of room for this!) Also, there was a strange, moldy/sewage like smell in the room. It was very distinct when you first enter - not sure if it’s related to a leak or something.
