We came dragging in from a week in "el campo" and we were tired, and covered in dust, and in a moment of weakness I decided we'd splurge on this luxury rather than getting a standard backpacker room somewhere else close by. We were dusty and grimy, traipsing through their polished lobby, but they warmly welcomed us anyway, and showed us to a big room with plenty of floor space (I was tired of not having room to walk in the room once we put down our bags, at a recent stay at Hotel Copacabana). Read moreI stayed at the Canciller Hotel in Santa Cruz on a business trip in September 2016. The hotel has a classic appearance; rooms are spacious, the WIFI is pretty good, it has a pool in the center of town, and very accessible rates considering the central location. However, there is lots of low hanging fruit when it comes to improving this hotel: a fresh layer of paint (including the pool, and why not switch on that waterfall next to it), hot water on the 2nd floor (suggestion: use the pool showers for the moment), and most important of all: change that horrible bread served...
Read moreThe place has a lot of potential but really our experience was really bad. To summarize:||1. No towels in the bathroom||2. No toilet paper||3. bad smell in the room - humidity||4. There were no eggs for breakfast. Instead of telling us they run out they told us to wait and then half an hour later we decided to leave. When we told the lady I charge she just laughed.
