LOCATION & ATTRACTIONS NEARBY * Hotel Laghetto Viverone Moinhos is located in a quiet(er) are of the Old Town. In the area you have some restaurants, shopping centre and also some street food stalls (approx. 200 m from there). ||||HOTEL OVERVIEW * It is a modern hotel in a historical building (mansion-type) and doesn’t look that big from the front. It has all business related facilities, like conference rooms, gym, swimming pool, restaurant, bar and rooftop swimming pool. ||You can park your car on the street, but that’s of course risky or simply use hotel’s garage (it’s BRL 29,90 - ~5 EUR per day, valet or self parking).||There’s a rooftop swimming pool which was fantastic after a busy day. The strange thing is, that you go there through the top-floor bar and… if you’re outside near the pool, on the sunchairs, you’re approximately on the eye level of people in the bar (Venice mirror, so you can see from inside). Not that I had any problem, but this was probably bit strange for the elegant people in suites having their drinks to look at me presenting (almost naked) body on the sun lounge behind the glass… Anyway, swimming pool was fantastic. ||||PURPOSE OF THIS TRIP * Leisure||||RESERVATION * I booked it directly with the hotel as they had the best rate direct. Thank you, Jeferson, for assistance with this. ||||LENGTH OF MY STAY * 1 night – Dec ‘19||||CHECK-IN * Check-in was quick and hassle-free. I was just a bit confused with the parking and because I didn’t know I can self-park, I blocked the entrance for good few minutes. I was assisted with my luggage to my room. ||||LOBBY & RECEPTION * Elegant and quite spacious. Can be very busy. There’re some flowers, glass and wood elements. It looked nice. ||||ROOM * I treated myself to Suíte Laghetto Pertutti - #109 – this is a massive suite on the ground floor. It contained two sections: living room and bedroom plus huge bathroom. Very elegant and fancy. There’re some windows, but very limited daylight. It’s also next to the gym, so sometimes you could hear the machines and treadmill, but this was not really that disturbing. ||I really enjoyed the look and design of the room, definitely this was a great idea to pay for the upgraded room. It was of course spotless clean and fresh. Complimentary bottles of mineral water were also provided.||I had a large, very comfortable bed, a dining table with chairs, fancy room separator, additional sofa (oh, I love additional sofa for all my belongings), flat screen TV, safety deposit box, mini-fridge and plenty of storage space. All you may need (or not) during your stay. The lighting was good, despite room being pretty dark. Plenty of electric sockets, but most used already by lamps, I was struggling a bit. ||There was also some kind of sink in the room, unusually, but this was actually very handy and helpful if you needed to quickly refresh yourself before touching anything in the room. Quite clever. ||||||BATHROOM * It was massive and also accessible for guests with mobility issues. It was also elegant and spotless clean. It looked good, but not all designs were really practical. After taking shower, water was leaking from below the curtain. Also, water was leaking from the flush (clean water), but I noticed this on time and used half of my towels. ||I did like the toiletries, very pleasant and high quality. ||||BREAKFAST * Breakfast was served on the 1st floor. Hm… I was quite disappointed. I was expecting something really WOW, but in reality it was ‘only OK’. Probably the worst during my trip (out of 10 hotels, different standard). It was tasty, but absolutely nothing special. And staff looked extremely bored (possibly they had to serve during banquet the night before, I don’t know). Selection of food was just all right and even if I arrived quite early, some items were finished and very slowly replenished. Big minus for the breakfast. ||||INTERNET ACCESS * Complimentary and connection was stable. Easy to connect. ||||CHECK-OUT EXPERIENCE * Quick and hassle-free. I kindly ask to keep my luggage as I wanted to do some sightseeing in town and then come back before my flight, and this request was met without any problems. They directed me to the garage (finally I could find my car, haha) and then I came back few hours later. Very helpful. ||||STAFF * Reception and room service/guest service staff were awesome – 10/10 points. Professional, helpful and attentive. Concierge / valet parking crew gave me impression of being angry or annoyed. Breakfast serving staff – simply bored. ||||OVERVIEW * Beautiful hotel in a lovely location. Extremely comfortable rooms and fantastic value for money. Easy and affordable parking. I would definitely come back there and stay in Hotel Laghetto Viverone Moinhos again. And again, I would go with the higher category rooms as they have a good selection of them (and I liked all of them on their photos, time to try different...

Read moreA real disappointment and clearly very badly managed. Great location but everything else very poor. This is not a 4 star hotel, more verging on 2 maybe 3 on a good day. Generally reception staff really nice and helpful. Breakfast boring especially after staying 5 days. No variation from day to day. Staff helping themselves to large plates of food whilst guests still trying to help themselves - never seen this anywhere. The worst thing though was housekeeping and the rooms themselves. We upgraded to a suite as the normal rooms were very small and uninspiring. Suite was awful. Sofa dirty and room not clean generally. Room tired and old. Mattress dirty. Sheets didn’t fit the mattress so you woke up lying directly on the mattress. Sheets were paper thin and pillows smelly. Bathroom has a terrible smell the entire 5 days we stayed. You have to literally climb over a brick wall to get into the shower which was particularly dangerous if the floor was wet. No shower gel in the shower, just shampoo and conditioner - not sure what you are meant to shower using? Really stupid toilet roll dispensers that aren’t fit for purpose and you land up pulling out twice as much as if there had been a normal toilet roll. Don’t...
