I didn’t actually do any research on other lodging options, going directly for TripAdvisor #1 in Tiradentes. Therefore, I expect there are some inns which are less costly. But I was totally satisfied in spending a bit more than average on this above-average pousada.||||Actually, except for the sauna-jacuzzi which we did not use – it actually seemed unnecessary to have and apparently could only be used by one couple or small group at a time – and for an early morning encounter with a loose guard dog on the grounds – it apparently had more bark than bite, but got me scared anyway – everything was perfect.||||Getting anywhere in Brazil can be a challenge – road signage in my country generally is often non-existent – but once on access road to Tiradentes, getting to the hotel was a no-brainer. Lots of road signs provided by the Pousada. Because of troubles on the road, we got there after tea-time (between 8 and 8:30 pm – hotel afternoon snack ends at 7 pm), but Roberto, who speaks English above-average, had maintained some delicious pastries, coffee and even complementary cachaça available for weary travelers.||||Rooms are top-notch, beds ultra-comfy and king-size, divine showers, full-program TV, wi-fi in all areas of the hotel. I wake up early and on first day, besides my encounter with the dog, I also had some trouble with turning on lights in common areas as I did not want to disturb anyone (very special common areas – sofas, books, games, different kinds of seats, all making one feel at a very special rich friend’s home). But on second day, the night receptionist had noticed my dawn habits and left lights on for me on a table where I could use my laptop in early morning hours.||||Breakfast was perhaps best we’ve had at any inn anywhere, close to rivaling in quantity with mega-buffets in resorts, but certainly of equal or better quality. Just perfect!||We also recommend trying the home-made pasta dishes available in evening, if the guest doesn’t feel like going out at night, though it seems after-hours Tiradentes may be nicer than during the day.||||We were not so enthused about the town itself – a bit run-down and just too many horses leaving their business on the streets (most guides have little carriages to take tourists around) – so this haven was best of...
Read moreMy husband and I spent two very enjoyable nights at this pleasant hotel, about 2 km away from the noise of the city centre. The short dirt road from the main road to the hotel is a bit misleading because the constructions around are a bit neglected and shabby. However, once you cross the gate of the pousada you are in another world. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated and there is a charming social area (dining, living room and terrace), which means you can unstress and relax in a cozy decor. After you come back from a day-visit, you can enjoy the afternoon tea/coffie with pastry, served between 17:00 and 19:00. If you do not feel like going out to the restaurant in the evening, you can always ask for a snack or pasta for a very reasonable price. The staff are helpful and very friendly. We will be back and...
Read moreWe booked this pousada based on a small local guide book - and the price. We found it to be "reasonable" among the nicer choices. The road is marked, but we came from a different direction and had some issues getting there. The road is not very promising....but the posuada, could not be nicer. It is a new construction so the plumbing, lighting, and design could not be nicer. However, all the materials are "reclaimed" so it has a centuries- old feel. Although beautiful, the best part here is the staff. Always friendly - offering umbrellas for sudden showers, directions, maps, and really going the extra mile to make us feel welcomed. Every morning the wonderful breakfast was presented like an art exhibit. On our last morning, they had incorporated "USA" in flower petals on our special table. We would definitely return here...
