There are a few options when renting here. We opted for one of the side by side studio bungalows (as we had multiple family members also renting similar units). Houses are also available for rent. It must be noted that management is in the process of refurbishing all units, and only ours and the accompanying unit were completed (which irked a few family members in the other units). The new unit has a comfortable king sized bed with a twin day bed next to it (sleeping our family of four comfy) - there is also a hammock that can be used either inside or outside to accommodate one more person.. The room has a nice rustic feel with wood vaulted ceiling beams, slate rock 1/4 walls, large opening windows, and faux wood cement flooring (very nice looking especially in bathroom). The bathroom is Americanized with a sliding glass shower door and toilet with seat (if you've been to Brasil, you know this is a big difference) - the sink is outside of the bathroom. There is plenty of cabinet space and hang up rod for shirts/jackets. There is a small but newer Samsung tv, but no DVDs player (we knew and brought our own). There is a small table with two chairs, and a small dorm fridge which kept our cerveija muito frio (sp?). There is a great porch with two Adirondack chairs next to the hammock for lounging. Our rooms (2.1 and 2.2) were a short walk to the three pools (one hot tub sized, one outside large Olympic and one heated inside). The inside pool was a big hit with the kids, and the wife loved using the adjoining sauna. The hotel itself is right off the Main Street, but is part of a large working ranch so is set back a long distance which meant no road noise. The place is part of a bird sanctuary sponsored by the government, so you will see chickens, roosters, parrots, etc....we even saw a large toucan outside our bungalow (awesome!).||The people behind the desk are extremely helpful, and you will see the owner there every day. Breakfast is included and they will make any eggs to order - multiple cheeses, breads and cold cuts are abundant. We only had lunch here once and it was fair. The kids chicken nuggets were fantastic, but the burgers were all bread and barely any burger. BIG KUDOS - the owners went out of there way and cooked just our party a turkey thanksgiving dinner, and it was fantastic. We can't thank them enough.||This is a great bigger pousada experience and we recommend it highly, and will...
Read moreI found this pousada after reading a New York Times travel article on Minas Gerais. I was very excited to see the place based on their website, but unsure how the chalets would be laid out. As it turns out, there was plenty of space between the chalets and it felt private enough. We ended up arriving after dark and were greeted by a helpful front desk attendant. Luckily the pousada's restaurant serves up room-service, a decent variety of petiscos, which came in handy on two nights (including when we arrived) when I was too tired to leave the pousada. The chalet rooms were spacious and simply decorated. The bed was comfortable enough, but not extravagant. Definitely the highlight of the pousada is the location. The grounds are spacious with a variety of wildlife, plenty of rabbits and chickens running around, and a bird sanctuary. In the morning it's great to just wake up and sit on the veranda to enjoy the peace and quiet. The owner of the pousada was very helpful when we asked for advice about hikes...
Read moreBeautiful small hotel, surrounded by nature. A indoor heated pool and another outdoor pool, this one is not heated. Great and very well kept garden. Chickens and bunnies running arround freely. Very simple but enouth and tastefull breakfast. You can buy food there, and its ok, but I advise you to try food in other restaurants. This hotel is in a small and nice village and you should take advantage of the mealtime to know the place. The rooms are two by two in chalets, small but comfortably (there are bigger rooms. No dirty complains. If you want a place to rest with family or a nice moment with girlfriend, you...
