Tai hotel |Traveling from São Paulo to Campo Grande Is a long drive. We started searching on Trip Advisor for a hotel and the first one that came up was the Taj Hotel. The gps was a little tricky and took us to a strange location but once we put the hotel name in we got the correct directions. |The Taj is one of the most beautifully decorated hotels we have been to. The entrance is beautiful and staff very welcoming. To an American, Três Lagoas seems like its truly in the middle of nowhere. We were just simply looking for a clean place to sleep and wound up in one of the nicest hotels in Brazil. The owners are cattle ranchers and travel to India quite frequently it appears by all of there beautifully displayed pictures, imported art work, furnishing and even trees. They mix in a bit of Brazilian ranch and Tibetan Buddhas. It’s very cool. Each area is surprisingly pleasant from the lobby, restaurant, pool, hallways, sitting areas and the Gandhi garden with full life Gandhi statue and the most beautiful boaba tree. Sayings from Gandhi are everywhere with plaques describing in detail. In awe of this spectacular hotel we decided to stay for dinner. |Claugia our bartender and waitress made the best traditional line Caparinia with top grade cachaca that I’ve had in Brazil. Undecided about what to order from their impressive menu, chef Amon came to our table to discuss in length every detail of our order to deliver one if the best chef prepared meals we’ve eaten in Brazil. Amon should definitely be featured on Too Chefs of Brazil tv show. The meal started with a complimentary presentation of pepper and fruit jellies, cheeses, olives with crouton breads. Our dinner was spectacular. I ordered the top grade steak with buffala mozzarella stuffed roasted tomatoes. My husband had a lamb steak with pine nut risotto and broccoli pared with a nice bottle of full body red wine. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The morning breakfast was exceptional offering fresh fruits, breads, scrambled eggs, cheeses, yogurts, meats, juice, cookies and coffee. |We will defiantly plan a stop at the Taj again on our next years trip to Brazil and drive to the eco part of Brazil’s...
Read moreThe town of Três Lagoas (Three Lakes), State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, is both a doorway to the Pantanal and an important business center, because of its agro-industry and cellulose and paper plants, and the massive Jupiá power plant on the River Paraná, in the eastward border of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. Taj Hotel is suited for both the business traveler as well as for the tourist in search of the indescribable beauties of the Pantanal.||||The hotel, whose name derives from the obvious Taj Mahal, is fully decorated with Indian motifs, including large and small-sized statues, objects, paintings and photographs. Amongst these, there are several photos of prized cattle specimens, the core-business of the owner.||||There are several leisure facilities available to the guest. In special, a nice swimming pool and two sitting courts (gardens), especially good to be used in the hot days and warm evenings of the region.||||Prices are moderate. Rooms are comfortable, very clean and well equipped with very large wardrobes, electronic safe and TV. Bathroom is large and comfortable. Linen and towels are white and pleasantly laundered. Included breakfast is plentiful and wholesome.||||There is a restaurant and a small gym Wifi is free, but not very efficient.||||Taj Hotel is situated at a comfortable walking distance from the main lake (Lagoa), the city center and not far from the municipal airport.||||Above all, hotel staff are very kind...
Read moreMy stay at the Taj was from beginning until the end a very pleasant one. On site parking is very handy with close access to my room. Reception was friendly and efficient. First I was given a room on the gound floor, which I did not like (no view). I asked for another room on the second floor and yes, this was great: spacious, street view, good bed and excellente bathroom. Fully satisfied, indeed. The best part was the excellent food for diner of the hotel restaurant. Superb. And of course the design of the hotel made my visit to this frontier town (bordering the state-line between Mato Gross do Sul and São Paulo) a...
