We just returned from our trip to Pousada Mangabeiras and we had a fantastic time, as usual.||Boipeba itself is a wonderful island to visit, because of the beautiful beaches, the relaxed atmosphere, and the little village of Velha Boipeba.||But the entire experience of getting to Boipeba and Pousada Mangabeiras is an experience in itself as well. In our case, we started with the 35-minute flight from Salvador to Morro de Sao Paulo in a small 6-seater plane; from there, we traveled in a 4x4 vehicle across Ilha Tinhare and its beaches, towards the waterfront opposite to Boipeba. Next we took a 3-minute crossing of the Rio Inferno by boat, arriving in Velha Boipeba, followed by a 15-minute walk, mostly following the beach to arrive below Pousada Mangabeiras. Last but not least, we took the funicular to the top of the ridge where the pousada is located.||||The location of the pousada provides spectacular views of the Rio Inferno during the entire day (if you're staying in a bungalow facing west); the view is changing all the time because of time of day, tide, boats on the water, people walking the beach, beautiful birds flying around in front of the bungalow, as well as the coastal mountains at the horizon.||Another advantage of the location is that it is almost half way between the village of Velha Boipeba and the beautiful beaches of Tassimirim, Cueira and Moreré. This means the only "difficult" decision to make each morning is: do we turn left, or do we turn right?||Because the pousada sits on top of a ridge, there is always a little breeze, as well as the sound of singing birds.||Most visitors don't get to discover the lush green hills in the heart of the island, but horse back riding is a nice way to enjoy beautiful views from the higher elevations.||||There are a lot of additional reasons why we like to stay in Pousada Mangabeiras when we visit Boipeba:||||The bungalows themselves are very nice and clean, and we always sleep very well.||||The breakfast is unbelievable; we are not going to explain every little secret so you'll have to find out by visiting on your own. The restaurant also serves an excellent dinner in the evening (typically 4-5 options to choose from, which change each day).||||The entire staff at Mangabeiras is wonderful: everybody is very friendly and for those of you who don't speak Portuguese, there is always a staff member around who speaks English.||||In summary, we consider Boipeba and Pousada Mangabeiras one of a handful of favorite spots in the world that we enjoy coming back to, and it almost feels like a...

Read moreOn my 5th visit to Corumbau I had the opportunity to experience Vila Das Mangabeiras, and I am so grateful that I did. I wanted a place to stay for the 4 weeks I would be here, with the flexibility to leave and come back depending on my travels.||||Fernando and Patricia were incredibly accommodating and welcoming. They are genuinely happy people whom seem to love what they are doing, and it was apparent throughout all our interactions.||||At first I stayed in the 2-story loft, which had everything a family would need – including a full kitchen, 2 full bathrooms and bedrooms, an outdoor seating area, a hammock, and a gated parking space. It was a very private space and we watched many incredible sunsets right from the patio bench.||||My next stay was in a private bedroom with a bathroom and mini fridge, which was perfect for what I needed at the time. I loved the big screen window so I could leave the shutters open all day.At times when I did not have a car, it was an easy walk to the beach and there is a small supermarket and restaurants nearby.||||The gated area for parking was much appreciated, and the breakfasts absolutely incredibly delicious! I got to swim in the pool a couple times, and it was so refreshing, and always clean.||||Fernanda and Patricia's team was always polite and genuinely helpful in whatever way we needed. Felipe, their volunteer, went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and his wonderful nature was much appreciated. He spoke fluent English, and he saved me many times with this!||||The entire team was highly respectful of the COVID situation and they were constantly wearing masks. There was alcohol disinfectant for the guests in the public areas, and I saw the team thoroughly sanitizing the breakfast area after we left. ||So, not only is it a beautifully well-maintained pousada, but it is also highly respectful towards what is going on in the world and its guests.||||I loved the outdoor areas – the pool, the hammocks and the lounge chairs. Immersed in nature it was easy to let go of everything and just enjoy the natural beauty and simplicity of things.||||I will definitely be back, and cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you for a...
