Hotel Balkan — Hotel in Gabrovo

The location is one of the two positive things I can say about this hotel. The other one was the atmosphere and the food of the restaurant. But only if you are lucky to find a free table. The room desperately needs renovation, ventilation and heating. The AC unit was completely broken and didn't function. The bath wasn't very clean and each evening smelled of food, which I assume was prepared in the restaurant's kitchen. Although smoking is forbidden, the hallway reeked of cigarettes and sometimes weed. I know it is the other guests that violated the rules, yet nobody from management took any action to ventilate the hallway. The service at the reception was disappointing. I was charged for double room and then given a room for singles. There is no room service. At reception I was told, they only got the phone of the restaurant's manager, but she ain't waitress and doesn't accept any orders. The only way to order any food for the room, is to chase the waitresses in the restaurant and convince them to take your order and then call you to come pick it. The breakfast was a complete joke. Out of 4 nights spent at the hotel I attempted to have breakfast twice. Both times the breakfast consisted of a plate of white and yellow cheese, plate of ham, bowl of chopped tomatoes, a bowl of sliced cucumbers, butter, jam, few slices of bread and cornflakes. The jugs that were supposed to contain coffee and milk were always empty and weren't refilled, while I was there. There was no water, yogurt, tea or hot water. During lunch and dinner the restaurant gets busy, so finding table is a challenge, but if you manage to secure a table, you are in for a treat. The food is delicious and takes a bit of time to be prepared. Smoking is allowed in the outer side of the restaurant. I had to use the hotel out of necessity, so if you have the option to choose a hotel, don't pick...

At first sight it looks like a nice hotel but when you stay there you found how miserable it is. ||There is a fridge in the room but you cannot use it as it doesn't work ( electricity is too far away from the fridge, which makes it useless). There is no bar or a restaurant at the hotel. You have a breakfast included which is very poor (poor sandwiches and coffee). The in-polite woman Violeta was serving the food screaming on the guests and offending them. She was trowing the food on the tables. I cannot imagine such kind of hotel service. Hotel stuff were showing that guests are not welcome to this hotel.||May be that is why the hotel was empty (only our group, but they lost us also as guests).||I strongly recommend you DON'T GO...

Отель Балкана – прекрасное место для того чтобы заякориться в Габрово на несколько дней. Он очень удачно расположен в самом центре города, совсем недалеко от главной достопримечательности болгарской столицы смеха – «Дома юмора и сатиры». Рядом с отелем есть всё необходимое – и большой торговый центр LIDL и спортивный центр «Габрово» и остановка общественного транспорта откуда можно доехать (а можно дойти и пешком) до церкви Успения Богородицы и Художественной галереи, совершив тем самым самостоятельную экскурсию. Интерьер отеля исполнен в очень тёплом розовом цвете. А напольные живые растения, кованные железные элементы декора и картины на стенах создают неповторимую атмосферу камерности и доверительности. Гостиница совсем не большая, в ней всего пара десятков номеров, поэтому постояльцы лбами не сталкиваются. В основном здесь селятся сами болгары, а также туристы из сопредельных стран – Чехии, Румынии, встречалось несколько немецких пар. Комнаты в отеле просторны. В номерах мебель достаточно новая. Пара кроватей, диванчик, стол, стулья, тумбочки, кондиционер. Телевизор с кабельными каналами вещания. Есть и канал на русском языке. Обещают бесплатный Интернет, но мне он был без надобности, я и не пробовал подключатся. Бельё белоснежное и пахнет свежестью. В ванной кладут персональное мыльце с шампунькой. В стоимость проживания включён завтрак. Он конечно без особых изысков, но на утро, пожалуй, большего и не надо: - чай-кофе, молоко, хлеб или тосты, яйки, сыр, болгарская брынза, колбаска, зелень, огурчики-помидорчики, яблочки-апельсинки, мюсли. Ах, даже сейчас слюна выделилась! Очень удобно, что можно расплачиваться кредитной картой. Одним словом, вроде в этой Балкане ничего особенного нет,...
