We really enjoyed our holiday, and we will definitely come back next year.
The view was fantastic. The room was large and really clean. The bath was well maintained, although I would ask the hotel to change the toilet seat cover as it had serious marks of usage. We were in a quiet are, far away from the elevators, so we it was really quiet. The air conditioning covered any remaining noise, so we could sleep easily.
The free beach for the hotel is a little to the right or left. I would change it a bit more closer to the beach bar on the left side, as there were more paying customers from other hotels on the left side of the beach. So it would me more convenient for both the gained revenue and the hotel's guests to move the free are closer to the beach bar on the left side (the Carina Hotel side), as you will have more paying customers on the left side.
We upgraded our stay to all inclusive in the hotel. This option was available as Helena Park is closed. We couldn't do the upgrade on Booking, as no one told us it was possible, even when we asked about lunch by private message. The price difference for the lunch and drinks was 30 BGN per room. It was convenient and good quality for the money paid. However, because the hotel now offers all inclusive as well, it got a bit noisier, as guests drink at the outdoor terrace till 12:00 am. There is an echo, so they disturb all the rooms facing the sea view area. I would preferred to have a full board with drinks only at lunch/dinner included and this part would have been avoided. Or the outdoor seating are could be closed earlier to avoid disturbing the other guests. Anyway, the air conditioning on, and this noise was gone.
The food in the restaurant was very good, even though a bit repetitive. The tables of the restaurant were really clean (with white linen and all cutlery and glasses were sparkling clean). There were almost no Covid-19 measures in place. The staff weared the masks under their nose, or none at all. There was no distance between the tables at the restaurant, and in the first days they crowded everybody in one-two areas and kept the rest of the space closed for staff/cleaning. So glad we were all vaccinated and the kid passed through Covid this year, so we didn't had to worry so much.
Overall, it was a lovely holiday. Few improvements in the COVID-19 measures would be necessary (if Delta hits Bulgaria as well), but now everyone was relaxed and enjoying the holiday. Thank you for the lovely...
Read moreWent for a week's fly and flop holiday. Weather was amazing, not too hot. Hotel was tucked away at the end of Sunny Beach strip so its a bit quieter than the rest of it. |There is a little noddy train that tales you from one end to the other for approx 6 Lev (will be euros from Jan 26) along the promenade. Alternatively it is a lovely strill or for those who need help there is the Neesebar Mobility services where you can hire a mobility scooter for approx £10 per day. Beware though that Bulgaria does not really cater for disabled people on mobility scooters with the roads and pavements etc.|Back to the hotel, Helena Sands is the beach side hotel (half board) with Helena Park behind it (all inclusive). The hotel is clean and tidy and well looked after. The rooms were of a generous size with free safe. Hairdryer a bit pants and no iron in the room. Bathroom was lovely and clean. No complaints. Loud music a couple of nights during the week, from neighbouring hotel, but nothing that ear plugs wouldn't solve.|Food - I am the fussiest person on earth when it comes to holiday food and believe me this was the BEST food I've ever had on holiday. The choicest cuts of meat. You could virtually have a roast dinner every night if you wanted, loads of different choices every evening. You would struggle to go hungry here. Breakfast was also superb. The only downside was that all drinks were very expensive, even the water. To get round this me and my sister took our own drinks down to dinner with us every evening . There is a local Carrefour a few hundred yards away so we went there to stock up on soft drinks and the alcohol was bought on the way out at the airport.|There was no entertainment in this hotel on an evening and for us there could've been some background music from speakers but there wasn't and it resulted in a very drab atmosphere. If you wanted entertainment you could always go across to the All Inclusive side - just remember to take your own drinks.|The pool was absolutely freezing but there is also am indoor heated pool if you prefer that. |Beware of the woman at the Spa - totally put me off having a massage by the 'hard sell' She was relentless.|Overall, a fabulous holiday, great food, friendly staff and some great local bars within walking distance. Average age of clientele - 60 yrs + (could just have been due to the kids being...
Read moreThe food was great, the place is nice BUT.... There are no rules set on the beach, everything is chaos, no one manages the places. There are seats for the beach included in the ultra all inclusive package that offer you chairs if they are available on their beach. But as you can see in the picture, people are ... There are a plentora of chairs with towels on and very few people on the beach. The rules of the hotel specify that we are not allowed to reserve seats, yet here are people coming with one night before and leaving their pool towels on the beach chairs to appear as if they reserved the seat. They also say if you lose the towel, you have to pay a fine of 40leva. I came with my family of 5 people and we could never find seats with no towels, I even complained to the guard that manages the seats and they said they cannot do anything about this. I had to literally take the towel away from one of the chairs and just dump it on the sands. If people are ... and no one fixes this system, then you'll have to be an ... as well to enjoy your holiday on the beach. They don't let you bring any drinks or food from the bar itself or from outside. If the guard spots you, he gestures to you to either drink it or pour it on the ground before letting you pass the gate. Their bar on the beach is overpriced with poor quality beverages. I would've been fine to pay more if they had brandy, jagger or a Jack Daniels, but instead they offer counterfeit alcohol. I would've offered more stars to this review, but the beach situation is...
