Hotel Aktsent — Hotel in Razgrad

I spent six weeks at the Hotel Accent in Razgrad, Bulgaria. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious, although somewhat outdated.||||The property includes an outdoor pool (which is very clean), outdoor bar/restaurant (open only during the summer months), and an indoor restaurant. I found the food to be very good, with pictures to help us non-Bulgarian speakers. Although the owners and staff speak somewhat limited English, they work hard to understand what you need.||||The rooms include a double bed, closet, nice bathroom/shower combination, small refrigerator, and a television (which is reasonably old). The wireless internet at the hotel is very fast. My only complaint was the poorly fitting sheets as the bottom sheet was not fitted to the mattress. Also, I don't think the beds include box springs so they are somewhat firm (but not uncomfortable).||||The neighborhood is fairly quiet, however, barking dogs and crowing roosters do break the silence on a regular basis but the rooms are quiet. The air conditioning and heat work reasonably well, and have a remote to adjust the temperature.||||I certainly recommend this property if you find yourself in Razgrad, especially during the summer when you have access to the pool and...

We were very disappointed with the entire line. Our friends did not have a room on arrival, they were placed at the back of a separate piece. The air conditioning did not work while it was very hot. In the evening we all wanted to drink a glass of wine and something fresh, together on the terrace (we had booked with 18 people). But when we wanted to sit down, we were told by the owner that we were not allowed to sit on the terrace after 10 pm, and that we had to sit in the bedroom, while he himself drank wine on the same terrace. He also said that we were no longer welcome while we made no noise, and also that 'money is not the problem'! When we went to our bedroom, the owner and his wife discussed very loud for more than an hour, so we couldn't sleep! We paid for the 2 nights we stayed there, and we called that same evening to another hotel where we could stay with 18 people for the rest of our vacation. Fortunately we found Hotel Cartoon, where we were very welcome, they were very friendly, and we were allowed to sit on the terrace after 10 pm. ||We found that this is a very rude hotel owner at hotel Accent, who will certainly never...

We set up a reservation several weeks in advance for our family trip to Bulgaria. We had heard great things and we're excited to stay at Accent. We had also let them know we were arriving a little later in the night due to our travel time, and called to remind them the day off to make sure it was still okay with them if we arrived around 1:30am. They said there was no problem and we drove straight to Razgrad, giving us a number to call once we arrived. When we got there after driving many hours and tired as hell, we called the number they left for us. When they answered, we were informed that we wouldn't be allowed to stay there that night. We told them we had reserved the rooms for three days, and the person on the phone rudely answered "nope, you won't be staying here any nights, your reservation is cancelled, goodbye".
