My lovely wife and I decided to have our wedding at Best Western Expo on June 12th. We met with the wedding organizer and she was very pleasant and helped us out a lot. With the great meeting we believed the hotel would be a great place for our wedding/reception. We even came and tried the meals that would be given to our guests, the food was excellent. Though I guess it was too good to be true. The organization of the waiters and waitresses was not great, additionally the food was not as good as when we had tried it the first time and some of our requests were not made correctly. We paid additional money to have unlimited drinks but the hotel ran out of many common drinks like diet soda, and coca cola. Additionally, we were told my family from America would be allowed to check out as late as they would like because they are part of the wedding party. When the day came to check out they were being called and told to leave because they were past their checkout time (we left the hotel rooms together around 1 (late night)). The Suite for my wife and I wasn't really that great, clean but it was just a bigger room nothing special for our first night together as a couple. Lastly, and most disappointing they "lost" our cake topper. For two weeks we emailed them and had several friends inquire about the topper, not until the maid of honor made a complaint to the PR did they all a sudden find the cake topper (we have suspicion that someone stole it). My Wife emailed them multiple times even the wedding organizer and never got a response thats why we felt we should write this review. Additionally, for other hotels in Bulgaria it was quite expensive and not that impressive and the...
Read moreI missed my flight at sofia airport so had to book a hotel for one night. So I went for a mid range hotel. It was better than mid range. |Lovely helpful staff on reception, an aceptable price with thier discount....paid 68 euros for a large kingsize bed with onsuite bathroom.|Comfortable bed, fresh pillows (very snazzy cushions too) and a nice relaxing corner sofa, reasonable TV and every thing was realyl clean.|Complimentary coffee and tea, which is not the norm in Bulgaria, nice and quiet, was lovely and warm. Actualyl a bit too warm and I couldnt turn the heating down so I had to sleep wit hte fridge open to cool off as aircon didnt work. THis was the only negative for me. |They did an airport pickup, but not a drop off and this nearly stopped me booking, as they should have told me this at the begining, however they were saved by the fact the metro was 4 stops to the airport and cost me 1.60 leva, so about 70p. |I picked up food from the little shops in the metro, as I hit a holiday so the restaurants close by were closed.|A very lovely stay and Id go there again. |AND they had these lovely drop lights near the bed as side lights, some veyr nice touches, clean crisp sheets, soft towels and nice soaps etc and they dont ask you to leave till 12 lunch time. My photo doesnt do the...
Read moreExpo hotel provided a solid experience.
The receptionist was very nice upon arrival. The lobby has lots of comfortable sitting spaces. Our room was spacious with a big comfortable bed and large windows. The shower had good water pressure and temperature control. The room came with apple tea bags, waters, and slippers.
The tv was a little older, meaning there was no way to connect any streaming services to it other than an hdmi cord connected to a laptop. I expect a little better from a 4-star hotel.
What really sets this hotel apart is the breakfast. It had one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in Bulgaria so far. The giant croissants were flaky and fluffy, the fruits/veggies were fresh and crisp, the bacon had a nice flavor, and the chia yogurt was good. There was also a nice selection of juices (even pineapple.) This was also the very first hotel I’ve been to in Europe (after traveling 2 months) that had pancakes WITH syrup. It was not the highlight of the breakfast for me, but definitely worth noting.
I also really liked the room art in our room. The bird painting was...
